V-ID - Ending document fraud with blockchain powered validation

The V-ID validation service uses blockchain technology to end all document fraud. Our client base, with customers like Airbus Space & Defence, operates in various fields, including education, medical, research and tech.

V-ID’s validation process involves extracting the fingerprints of files and saving them in the blockchain. If a file is changed with just one byte, pixel, character or anything else, the fingerprint is changed and V-ID will detect it 100%.

In practice, this allows ESHRE, the European research institute, to issue diplomas to their students in PDF format. The PDFs are validated by V-ID, so students can freely email them to prospective employers. The recipients can be 100% sure that the diplomas are authentic, because they can check the file’s integrity with any internet browser in 5 seconds. This combination of security and ease of use would not be possible without blockchain technology, and is in stark contrast to traditional PDF protection methods, which involve a very cumbersome process with certificates, installation of the right software and, unfortunately, a very easy to circumvent protection layer.

At the core of the validation process is VIDT, V-ID’s utility token. For each validation, a transaction with VIDT is done to record all necessary details of the file and its publisher in the blockchain. Customers who validate files, buy VIDT to do so.

V-ID can be used for any digital file, not just PDF’s, so this includes things like security footage, photo’s, tracking data, audit trails, research results, or even complete databases. As V-ID and its growing client base discover more use cases weekly, the demand for VIDT rises.

Financial plan

We assume a three year turnover growth and will reach the break-even point within 5 years. The number of documents validated with V-ID is estimated at five hundred thousand in Year 3 and at least 1.5 million in Year 5. The exponential growth will mainly be driven by automated validation and verification, by means of integration with existing systems. In the course of the first years, the revenue ratios will shift from "licenses and implementations" to turnover "per document". The ratios of the expenses will shift from "marketing and development" to "sales and support".
