What is Bitcoin? Why use it?

Like paper money and gold before it, bitcoin is a currency that allows parties to exchange value. Unlike its predecessors, bitcoin is digital and decentralized. For the first time in history, people can exchange value without intermediaries, which translates to greater control of funds and lower fees.

You use bitcoin for many of the same reasons you opt to send an email, stream a movie, or download a song. It’s faster, cheaper, more secure, and immutable. Its uses extend beyond the peer to peer payments. In many places, bitcoin is less volatile than the local currency, so some use it to store value while others use it to consume at hundreds of thousands of vendors across the globe and online.

Those are many of the reasons why I love digital currencies like Bitcoin. Decentralization. People around the world are trusting their country specific fiat currencies less and less. I think this is just the beginning.

Bitcoin is worldwide. Not contained by geographical barriers. Not subject to massive inflation because of State debt. I like your point that in some places around the world, it is less volatile and more trusted that the local currency. Being in the United States, I sometimes take it for granted I use the US dollar. Thanks for your post.

Soon Bitcoin is going to be 5000$
