On July 14-15 in the Hague there has taken place the third annual conference devoted to use of cryptocurrencies in criminal objectives. As the organizer of action the division of Europol — the European center for fight against Cybercrime (EC3) has traditionally acted.
For two days law enforcement authorities from the European Union countries, Canada and the USA discussed use of cryptocurrencies in case of legalization of income gained in the criminal way and the advanced methods of fight against the offenses connected using digital currencies.
"Over the past few years we have created expert community of researchers, prosecutors and practicians from a private sector which makes common efforts for fight against various forms of illegal use of digital currencies. Partly, it has become possible thanks to carrying out this conference" — the development director of EC3 Russian salad Burgersdik has said during the speech.
We will remind that law-enforcement structures of the European Union regularly monitor possible use of cryptocurrencies in criminal objectives. In particular, at the beginning of this year the report of Europol confuting use of digital currencies by the terrorist organization ISIL has been published.
At the same time, affirmed as other report submitted in October, 2015 that at least 40% of all settlement between criminals on the Internet are the share of bitcoin.
