Bitcoin Transactions Spam Warning - Someone Is Trying to Damage Bitcoin?

in bitcoin •  7 years ago  (edited)

Hi there!

Lately I wrote a post about Bitcoin transactions speed getting lower trough various reasons.

It seems that we can add one more - transactions spam.

Transactions spamming occurs when suddenly there's a lot of new low-fee transactions. Often miners are getting accused for doing it in order to make the fees higher for normal users - so they can earn more (fees go to the miners).

What do you think guys? Notice the end part of the chart - someone suddenly started to make lots of low-fee transactions (with exactly the same fee) in linear fashion. And this started exactly when fees were lowered significantly and Bitcoin unconfirmed transactions dropped from 80k to 40k in just 10 hours.

How often do you send your bitcoins with small amounts every second? I think it is possible that someone is trying to damage Bitcoin. Not nice.

Edit: I found an information that it might be someone making high size transactions in order to consolidate his Bitcoins on one wallet. Hope that's the case!
