🗞 Unstoppable Scams? Ethereum's Gambling Problem Is Only Getting Worse

Ethereum has a gambling problem.

Since July, products resembling Ponzi schemes, a fraudulent form of investment promising high returns for little cost, have topped the charts among decentralized applications (dapps) running on the world's second-largest blockchain, outpacing even the popular CryptoKitties.

But if user counts and transaction volumes observed on these applications are high, so too is the level of concern over the risks consumers face when using them. Already mounting are warning cries from technologists who aren't exactly known for their risk reticence, a group that includes gambling dapp developers themselves.

Coinbase to Pursue Decentralized Form of Identification Following Acquisition

The cryptocurrency exchange and crypto wallet company Coinbase has announced that it has acquired Distributed Systems Inc., a US start up developing decentralised identity solutions.

According to Coinbase’s project manager for Identity, B Byrne, the acquisition will boost Coinbase’s push into developing a decentralised identity service that will “let you prove that you own an identity, or that you have a relationship with the Social Security Administration, without making a copy of that identity”.

Crypto exchange Binance is launching a fiat-to-crypto trading platform in Liechtenstein and you can find the details about the joint venture with LCX in The Daily. We’ve also got reports about ZB.com opening a new office in Malta, Coinsilium investing in crypto trading platform Bundle, and the rebranding of the Toshi crypto wallet as Coinbase Wallet.

Huobi Launches Partner Exchanges in Russia, Philippines, Taiwan, Indonesia, Canada

Chinese exchange Huobi and its partners are launching cryptocurrency exchanges in five regions: the Philippines, Russia, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Canada. Partners “share Huobi’s order integration system, wallet system, asset management and clearing systems.” The exchange in Manila has launched with trading in three markets with over 40 trading pairs.

Nvidia Stock Falls as Q3 Revenue Estimates Hit by Crypto Mining Decline

U.S.-based graphics processing unit (GPU) manufacturer Nvidia stocks fell after announcing its third-quarter estimates, MarketWatch reported August 16. The firm’s revenue was affected by a decrease in crypto mining as digital currency markets slumped earlier this year.

Nvidia shares declined more than five percent in the extended session. The closing price in the regular session was $257.44, down 0.6 percent. Nvidia forecasted its third quarter revenue between $3.19 billion and $3.32 billion, lower than the figure predicted by analysts of $3.34 billion.

No big change on the STEEM side. We are still sitting on the support line at 0.80$ and we are consolidating in a kind of canal. A break out should happen soon but will it break the support line or go test the resistance line in orange... that is the question.

I don't like these charts to trade because it is more a casino trading than a technical analysis. We are for sure in a bear trend and so a bounce is possible at any moment but never forget that your capital is the more important thing you have in trading. I suggest you to wait and trade again when we have a better view.
