Dubai Smart Office (SDO) won the highest honor at the Smart City Fair and World Congress in Barcelona, winning the Dubai Blockchain Strategy Award from 308 other teams.
The innovative blockchain technology system is designed to enable the Dubai government to create a complete system so that all government transactions by 2020 will be conducted on an encrypted database. The project also hopes to create new standards for blockchain technology. According to Wesam Lootah, chief executive of SDO:
"We are in smart Dubai and planning is not just about applying blockchain technology to our operations. In fact, we are currently setting the first set of international standards for government blockchain applications and we believe our experience will inspire people around the world Of cities, bringing new opportunities for the implementation of the blockchain in all walks of life. "
Dubai has adopted blockchain technology and cryptocurrency in some areas and seems to be a major force for governments to move forward. In particular, the government's announcement of the first national cryptocurrency to be released shows a huge adoption rate.
