How is the price of Bitcoin not completely manipulated by its creators?

This one's a real head scratcher for me....

What within the Bitcoin system prevented its creators from having all the Bitcoin?

I imagine the early adopters, by design, now sit on considerable wealth which continues to grow. Can these individuals not buy and sell a significant portion of the BTC market for a pittance of what they paid?

Also the fact that no one admits to knowing who "invented" Bitcoin raises suspicions. Please explain to the uninitiated like me, what prevents Bitcoin from some day turning out to be an enormously intricate scam?

DISCLAIMER: I have money in the market and believe we're going to the moon. But there are technical aspects of the system which I don't understand, in turn causing fear.
