Bitcoin's best kept secret: Rootstock

So I was browsing around the interwebs and noticed a month-old article about RSK, Rootstock launching tomorrow. Wait. Tomorrow? Yeah, tomorrow!

The article was posted about a month ago and stated that Rootstock beta was scheduled to launch December 4. This should be a big deal. Rootstock offers smart contract capabilities on a side-chain pegged to Bitcoin - an answer to Ethereum's smart contract capabilities.

Additionally, Rootstock offers speed and scaling solutions by using a side-chain that runs with less data and can be processed much more quickly than the main Bitcoin blockchain. It has a Lightning-network-like scaling solution called "Lumino" that will be released in Q2 2018. This will use a "compression protocol" that scales Bitcoin 8.3 times! SegWit, for comparison, only scales Bitcoin 1.8 times. It will also be much cheaper to transact using RSK due to the lighter processing demands of the side-chain. Additionally, RSK will implement multi-thread transaction verification that greatly reduces block time verification.

A number of developers are building tokens that will be running on RSK. Tomorrow will be a very important day for these tokens. I mentioned Civic in another article - they are probably the best known of these tokens planning to be using RSK in Q1 2018.

This seems like pretty important stuff being that it should have a pretty big impact on the utility and scaling of Bitcoin. Why in the world is nobody talking about it?

RSK will launch in beta and be scaled down initially to work out bugs. Perhaps the developers don't want to draw too much attention to it while they're busy trying to stomp bugs and fix problems. It seems to me like December 4 should be a pretty momentous day for Bitcoin.

Please, share your thoughts and opinions on RSK!

Yes, once RSK is implemented, ETH will have less advantages

I agree, everyone should be reading up on RSK, and even more importantly if people are looking at putting some money somewhere for the next 3 months, Civic is a great place to do it.

interesting. i haven't heard anything about this in my crypto endeavours.

Like I said, it should be a big deal. Read the article I linked at the bottom. Weird that nobody is talking about it.

Interesting post @xsid, I'm still new to blockchain or cryptocurency and I think this is very good for bitcoin and hopefully also Steem someday if they all can work together. I've upvoted to encourage you, I don't come to Steemit often, but I have place a new article and I hope it will encourage the young people.

Thanks for your encouragement! I'll read the article.
