The CEO of the gaming applications company Funcity, and who was also founder of the Chinese application Kuaidi Dache, Chen Weixing, has expressed his intentions to develop a shared-travel platform similar to Uber based on blockchain technology.
The initiative of the new platform was revealed last Sunday in a function after the event of Guiyang BigData Expo 2018. In addition, it was also known from a publication of Chen in WeChat, that the new project would be carried out in conjunction with Yang Jun, co-founder of Meituan, one of the largest applications in China focused on group discounts.
Chen's new project captures great attention due to his experience in the development of applications for this use. However, between his words, he did not indicate which would be the blockchain platform in which the application would be executed or what are his plans to deal with the scalability problem that may affect the development of the same.
The Kuaidi Dache application that was founded by Chen in 2012, had a great boom in China giving strong competition to its rival Didi Chuxing. Both companies were supported by venture capitalists and internet giants such as Tencent and Alibaba until at one point in their commercial competition they decided to merge in 2014, keeping the name of Didi Chuxing and thus becoming the largest in China in their area. .
On the other hand, Chen being one of the most enthusiastic investors of blockchain technology in the country, has not caused much surprise with the initiative. In February of this year, a report revealed that it had made investments in numerous cryptocurrency projects, as well as in popular exchange platforms such as Binance and Huobi.
