Same thing that happens on every hard fork and yes bitcoin has had previous hard forks. The chain with the most work will become bitcoin. The minority chain will either become an alt coin or cease to exist as miners switch to the majority chain to preserve their ability to make money. It's called Nakamoto consensus.
