I'm probably like a lot of you.

I recently invested some money into cryptocurrencies, not a lot- less than a grand.

Still probably too much- considering my bank account balance.

But, there are a lot of people making some serious gains right now with crypto. And in 2018, I want to be one of them. I will be pursuing financial freedom (and other life goals) with great energy and enthusiasm. 2018 is my year of zeal.

Hence, the screen name.

Given the upcoming topics, it seems appropriate to 'coin' my new word.

There is a lot of hate in the modern world, but I refuse to let it eat me up. It seems to only breed. I believe that optimism can save the world!

Brand new to crypto? Me too!

Bitcoin is the cryptocoin you've heard about. It is the most popular cryptocurrency to date and is also the very first decentralized digital currency.

Check out all of these sites if you're getting into Bitcoin.

Coinbase
Make an account, but DO NOT buy Bitcoins from here! The transfer fees are expensive! Instead, deposit USD into the Coinbase wallet and then transfer to GDAX to avoid more expensive fees.

GDAX
Once you've created your GDAX account, it will link with your Coinbase account. You will still need to transfer your deposited USD to the GDAX exchange. Then buy Bitcoins at the current rate. Transfer from the GDAX exchange for less expensive rates!

Binance
This is one of the bigger cryptocurrency exchanges. I have been using Binance successfully for almost a month now. Get your deposit address from the Deposit/Withdrawal page and send them over from GDAX or wherever.

Try NOT to store your coins on the exchanges after trading! Exchanges are often hacked. Instead, move them to a wallet!

To become involved with these sites you will need to provide authentication and verification. Take a picture of the front and back of your driver's license (you're going to need it!) and be ready to provide payment/bank details.

Google Authenticator
You might set this up to provide 2-Step Verification with your smart phone, or Authy.

Blockfolio
This app is for Android only, but I have found it extremely useful. You don't keep coins on here. It's a portfolio to keep track of your coins, wealth, and values. It also has up-to-date crypto news! Super useful.

I have heard there are better options and I continue to search for the best portfolio option. I also am prone to keeping a notebook as a physical representation of my purchases/trades.

When people wonder if they've missed the boat when it comes to Bitcoin, the simple answer is no. Blockchain technology is here to stay- what to look for? Legitimate innovation!

Find the altcoins that have a solid team, technology, and following. Your homework is endless.. there are 1377 cryptocurrencies listed on CoinMarketCap at the time of this writing!
