How to Claim Bitcoin Forks?
For those early adopters who happened to hold bitcoin or bitcoin cash at early periods (Referring to 2016-2018 mostly) are able to redeem coins from forks that have been going on for some time. Each Bitcoin fork has a different ratio some paid 1:1 and some had lower or higher scaling - basically based on the snapshots that were done on specific time (or block) are indicators how much rewards you are going to get.
- Issue however exists that you have to download a said new Bitcoin fork wallet, which might put your private keys / seed phrases at risk, so always send the bitcoin into to other address prior doing this. Obviously if you held Bitcoin at the exchange back in 2017 or 2018 that won't count for anything obviously since you don't hold your own keys.
Our second option is Magnum wallet, which is basically supporting +10 different bitcoin forks and allows you to import private key in secure way to the platform and allows you to auto-claim bunch of coins. After you have imported your wallets (Currently supports Litecoin, Ethereum & Bitcoin) you can claim airdrops and delete the private keys from the platform. They are constantly adding more coins to the platform that you can claim, so its fundamentally very easy system.
Last option is to directly download wallets for these new coin forks, but its not something i generally recommend unless you have no problem to move bitcoin or other coins to new location without ease. Sites like BTCdiv has a good information about upcoming forks that are going to happen on the bitcoin platform among guidelines how to claim past forks too, remember that this site is not totally safe since it doesn't even have SSL verification.
Please note that some bitcoin forks have limited time, which means after certain time has past claims cannot be made anymore. Please make sure to subscribe by email for new articles, i will be doing separate one about Ethereum forks in future.
