While India is still getting a foothold over post-demonetisation issues, there are people who are looking beyond your usual form of transactions in an attempt to go cashless in the future. A Bengaluru restaurant in the Indiranagar area is making waves for all the right reasons because it might just be the only restaurant known to accept bitcoins in the city.
According to a video by Bloomberg Quint, the Maharashtrian restaurant called Suryawanshi started accepting bitcoin payments over 11 months back along apart from debit and credit cards or cash. While not many people are aware of the way bitcoins work, owner Tejas Suryawanshi has himself learnt over time. However, he has got only one customer till date who was surprised to see the restaurant accepts bitcoins and immediately paid the bill with it.
While the bitcoin rate fluctuates, it is interesting to see a restaurant in metros like Bengaluru adopt the means of transaction to do business. Whether it will be adopted by other restaurants is yet to be seen but it certainly looks like the way to go forward.
