Bitcoin Is Involved In Questionable Political Activities
We have all been watching, hearing conversations about Russia's involvement and hacking in the 2016 elections.
The post I am sharing with you today is about the 12 russians that were charged for their involvement in the hacking that took place in 2016.
The Russians used Bitcoin to help them finance their operation. They mined Bitcoin so they could pay for website hosting. By using crypto currency they were able to keep their identities hidden.
Unfortunately this is not the kind of news us crypto enthusiast needed to hear. If you have been around crypto since the beginning then you have heard about Silk Road, a company that the US Government raided and shut down because it was selling illegal drugs for Bitcoin.
This news has probably been a part of what has caused crypto currencies to struggle so much in 2018.
Bitcoin Is Still Growing In Acceptance
A lot of big name companies have announced that they are going to start accepting crypto in 2018. Crypto acceptance is growing for sure, but news like the Russian Hacking charges, hurt crypto's main stream acceptance.
As I sit here and watch CNBC's documentary about crypto currency, I can't help but wonder why anyone would not want to included crypto in their investment portfolio's, even with news like the hacking of the 2016 elections.
Crypto currency is very volatile more than stocks and bonds, but has the potential to create massive wealth and it's only been around 10 years!
There are 1500 different crypto currencies at this moment....and there are plans out there for the creation of more!! But the original crypto "Bitcoin" is still the most popular by far, and unfortunately is still a popular choice for funding shady activities.
I personally think that no matter what currency is used illegal activities can be funded while keeping ones ID hidden....until someone takes the time to look hard enough.
