AirSwap is an on-chain / off-chain hybrid protocol, which requires peer-to-peer coordination messages and off-chain on-chain identity (Ethereum & private key addresses). If I talk online with someone who supports having an Ethereum address, I need to be able to validate cryptographically so they tell the truth.

Because online communication is public, participants who communicate with each other in peer-to-peer networks need to communicate with others, without trusting the central authority to coordinate encryption (public key registration).
