This is less secure by design, but you have to make sure to never forget your password.

Secure Storage

See Wallet Model or use Lastpass for Chrome (again, less secure).

In any case, do not forget your password, make backups, use common sense.

No one can restore your money if you do not follow best practice to backup.

Thanks ash - appreciate it. I have the tendency to procrastinate those things, but glad that you reminded me :) Nobody wants to lose their hard earned BTS, BuildToken, Whaleshares etc.

Great tutorial! I just backed up mine yesterday. The delisting of bts recently has actually given bitshares some good exposure and might actually be a good thing for us in the long run! :)

I agree.

good post, good luck always friends.

Thanks for the tip.

Beautiful ref link.

Super helpful, clear, detailed and thorough. Being new, I wasn't sure on how to generate or see the brainkey. Thanks!

I keep wallet.dat backups on S3 and this Cryptomator app will help.

Backup is necessary. I have the Bitshares wallet .bin file on several computers and backed up to cloud storage. I have committed the password to memory, but should record it somewhere physically (in case my family needs to use it in the event that I am unable to).

I use the wallet model. All of a sudden I can no longer login to https://wallet.bitshares.org/#/ from Firefox. It shows me a new user welcome screen. I can still log in to openledger so I know Firefox still has my .bin file.

Does anyone know how to grab the .bin file out of Firefox without logging in?
