BitShares: How-To Set or Change your Proxy (02/2018)

in bitshares •  7 years ago

A lot has changed since the last how-to proxy, so here's an updated version.

What's a Proxy?

1 BitShares = 1 Vote in the governance system of BitShares. Means every BTS holder can vote for Blockchain Stability (Good Witnesses) or for Development work (such as the UI Worker). However, it takes time and knowledge to follow the ever changing network, for most HODLers it's too much.
They can delegate their Votes to one single account, the Proxy. Proxies are usually holders and users of the system with deep roots and knowledge.

How to Proxy or change Proxy vote

proxy0218.gif

  1. Click Settings
  2. Click Voting in dropdown menu
  3. The type-field to the left has your current proxy, or blank if for no proxy
  4. Enter the Proxy of your choice (#DYOR)
  5. Click SAVE
  6. Confirm the change transaction

That's it! It's fairly easy in the current Reference Wallet to vote!

Any questions?

Setting you as my proxy, new to Steem this week, hope to introducemyself this weekend. Any insight would be appreciated

cool, but I'm not too involved in steem politics. My main interest is in bitshares :)

Any proxy recommendations or do I even need to worry about? New to this idea of block chain but excited to see where it goes.

hi, any cost for proxy voting? is it one time cost for the setting up only. And how we benefit from it (any payouts)
