Bitshares GUI Release v2.0.171009

We released this version early because of confusion with the account registration process. We now present the Cloud Wallet as the default login. In the past, we have referred to this as the Account Model, however, it's ambiguous using the word account to differentiate the two types of accounts considering both types have accounts in them. We also fixed a bug in the referral link that has been around for a long time but was only recently discovered. This failed to credit referrals if the URL contained a trailing /. In the process, we also discovered (but have not found the root cause), that our initial scan through nodes is buggy and can lead to a node not being selected the first time a new user arrives. A manual screen refresh seems to solve the problem most of the time. I have booked this as a critical bug so we hope to have it resolved by the regular 171015 release.

For a summary of bugs and features, check out the Release Page.

For a detailed view of all closed issues in the Sprint, check out the closed Milestone.

I think the change in wording is appropriate and will alleviate confusion. Great job @billbutler and crew for knocking out a ton of features, bugs, and requests lately.

Nice work!

Milestones after milestones, soon the wealth shall rise, soon the giant shall be seen!

Thanks for sharing this update with us all. Namaste :)

Thank U for the update

good job, I think Bitshares and its features will bring something valuable in its users in the long run

Very nice

Bill butler god of bts !!

thanks for sharing :D

Good call. I was cursing this last night trying to get my BTS off Bittrex. I ended up just transferring to my Mac Wallet instead of the ledger. Let me know if you want any UX feedback.

Your feedback would be appreciated. Please feel free to add your thoughts directly onto the BitShares GitHub page. https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-ui/issues

Thanks for the update bill..can any steemians help me answer this question..i've downloaded the bitshares light wallet on a dedicated offline pc..but when i try to log in from a different pc or mac it doesn't recognize my password. Is this because the cloud based exchange/wallet is different than the light wallet and therefore i must create a new account for the cloud?? The site looks the same so i got confused..thank you for any help guys

Sounds like you are using the Wallet Model (Now know as the Local Wallet).

It will ask you for your password. Use the same password that you use in your Light Wallet.

Many thanks for the answer Bill..i appreciate you taking the time sir...cheers

Bill, tonight, attempting for the first time to download and use the BTS wallet, no amount of refreshing in Windows 10, using Edge, is working. I am finding that I can, though, use Chrome, although I'd rather not ...

Thought you might want to know, for future reference. I am, like I imagine a number of your other followers, attempting to get the BTS we own off of Bittrex, into a BTS wallet.

Repectfully.

Were you ever able to create a BTS wallet and move your BTS into it?

Thank you for asking. And sorry for the delay in responding. I am very new to SteemIt and trying to find the time to get more familiar with it. Very interesting concept!

To answer your question, yes, I successfully got the BTS wallet downloaded, tested to confirm the checksum, and then installed. With it fully operational, completed the big test of successfully getting both mine and my wife's BTS transferred to it from Bittrex.

We are impressed with its design and, when time permits, I want to learn more about executing future exchanges inside of it, so we will be supportive of what your vision is for what it could become!

Thanks again for asking!

Respectfully.

It looked sweet, bill. I like it more and more.

Nice update one of my fav thigns about bitshares is the easy to follow GUI unlike some of these other trade systems

On 8th of october Eobot announced that BitShares will be removed from their website, please withdraw your coins. I don't know why Eobot is removing BitShares if everything is fine.

What's Eobot? Is this an Equal Opportunity Bot?

Very nice and help to all people

I really don't think that they should be focusing on making too many updates or improvements to SteemIt.com. Right now the whole Steem ecosystem is far too dependent on SteemIt.com as the only front-end as was evident from the recent DDOS events.

The idea behind the Steem platform is that any number of different front-end sites can be created on top of it. I think the SteemIt, Inc team should be focusing on creating tools, frameworks, etc to make it as easy as possible for others to create their own front ends to the Steem blockchain such as busy.org and chainbb.com.

When SMTs come out I think it would be great to not only have an easy way to create your own tokens, but also to have an easy way to launch your own front-end site using those tokens. If you create your own site on top of Steem then you can fix all of the "issues" you may see with SteemIt.com however you see fit. Then if others also like your changes they can switch to using your site.

This is where I think the real future of the Steem platform is - a whole series of different sites / communities etc built on top of the Steem blockchain, using their own tokens and SteemIt.com fading into the background.

Hail mr. Bill!

Excellent to hear the progress @billbutler, as well thanks for assisting in setting up our own node, covered in our latest post. Would be great to get your comments there also, as we cover some points about UI dev and other areas of improvement for Bitshares at the end of the post.

interesting i will definitely cheek this out, thank you

This looks awesome!

Awesome thank you!,
Is there any way for non-lifetime members to register premium account names? Of course paying the required BTS. Can't seem to be able to do it.
Thanks!

Great Job !

very nice.....

Grate work....

Interesting, how does this compare to, say Bisq? (minus them using Tor).
Account setup on Bisq is rather difficult if you're not into the whole wire-transfer game. Also, referrals? Interesting. I might switch over. (^:

I love this idea. No one better to oversee a rise to championship levels like AN ACTUAL CHAMPION.

why Bittex delist Bitshares?

Greetings @billbutler
I make a follow up of the different informative publications that are realized on Bitshares. however I think that much of the Hispanic Community could be interested in knowing what you do and the updates and improvements that have been made.
I wanted to ask you if you have someone who can translate your publications in Spanish, otherwise I would be very willing to help you in this task to keep up with the community that only reads in Spanish!
