Introducing Bitshares to Students

One of the most fascinating aspects of blockchain environment is the synergy between Bitshares, STEEM, Steemit, and trading gateways such as Openledger.

It brings together some of the most interesting facets of cryptocurrency: financial trading, investment, tokens, and instant transfers.

Bitshares is the brainchild of @dan and has a robust community that makes sure it is a viable and operating technology. It is based off of the Graphene blockchain and can handle trading and storing any asset from Bitshares the currency to USD & STEEM to even bitGOLD.

It is currently handling hundreds of thousands of transactions per day (most say more than Bitcoin and Ethereum combined). It is a trading platform, a currency, and a place of instant transfer and creation of wealth.

Safe to say, Bitshares is a revolutionary piece of the puzzle.

To access Bitshares a majority use the OpenLedger gateway portal at https://openledger.io/ . There are other portals as well, but for myself personally and for students my gut instinct tells me OpenLedger is the way to go.

You can buy, sell, and transfer STEEM, SBD, BTS (Bitshares), and all the famous tokens of Steemit such as BeyondBit and Whaleshares.

You can also transfer STEEM basically instantly from your Bitshares Wallet through Openledger to your Steemit account and vice versa.

As you can see the synergy between Bitshares, STEEM, Steemit, and Openledger is large and serves as an ideal gateway to learning about:

• financial trading and investments,
• cryptocurrency and blockchain technology,
• transfers and creation of wealth through superior transfer tech and User-Issued Assets (UIA),
• and many other life lessons.

This is the synergy teachers dream about when planning an ideal way to teach Business and Finance courses in High School and University.

I believe this is an awesome way for this generation and future generations of business (especially finance) students to learn about micro such as Bid/Ask prices and Bid/Ask spreads to macro such as trading on information, fundamentals, or both.

So this is what I suggested to be discussed in this week's Bitshares hangout:

It seems like a reasonable and beneficial thing for Bitshares to invest in.

The education of this and future generations of students.

Why use the programs and simulation games that are used in American high schools and universities?

I have used probably at least ten different simulations and software aimed at teaching me concepts about business and finance.

It doesn't work.

The majority of students main motivation is to do the minimum necessary to get the grade they need. They aren't actually focused on learning the highs and lows of business, financial trading, investment, and definitely not cryptocurrency.

Why can't we share drop them some BTS, a few UIAs, and/or some partners currencies and token?

Have them learn the macro and micro of finance and business all while becoming extremely familar with Bitshares, STEEM, Steemit, and Openledger.

Because when students get interested and actually have a personal and financial incentive to learn and interact

They will.

Its what teachers have done continually over the years.

Adapt their methods to incentive students to learn. That way they can apply and implement in their current and future lives.

Can you imagine a whole university let alone ten (10) using Bitshares wallets and learning about financial trading, investing, and cryptocurrency?

The domino effect will be legendary.

So why wait?

The action plan includes:

• targeted high schools and universities
• teachers and professors willing to help
• timeline for implementation, and
• necessary funding for implementation.

This seems like a huge win-win and would allow for the expansion of Bitshares in popularity to continue for several generations.

Education is the name of the game and with Bitshares, STEEM, Steemit, and Openledger we can bring a whole wave of knowledge to these young minds who are just waiting to absorb it.

Real, positive change.
