Hertz updates! Committee Proposal Success!

Hertz updates - Jan 28th

Activation status

We've got 7 active price feed publishers for the Hertz ABA, this was the previous minimum price feed publisher count however it was increased to 9 as an activation delay until the cause of price feed divergence between price feed publishers is resolved.

Regarding the observable difference in published price feeds, the cause is likely not caused by USD reference price differences (bitUSD vs USD:BTC:BTS) but rather due to a now solved programming error in BTS_Tools. Once Wackou has merged the pull request & created a new release you'll be able to install the updated version via pip3. Any testing would be massively appreciated.

Committee change request (Ref: 1.10.7806) succeeded!

I requested an increase in the max price feed publishers (manual configuration) from 10 to 25. A week later the proposal raised by abit passed committee vote!

I have now configured more than 10 price feed publishers manually:

Updates to the Hertz price feed monitor page

Check out the Hertz price feed monitoring page, it's a great reference for when cryptofresh is down.

The table now shows the approx bitUSD value of the published price feeds and there's extra info about the hertz token.

TODO

  • Request price feed script pull requests merged. (Wackou's BTS_Tools & Xeroc's Bitshares price feeds).
  • Request new BTS_Tools release for updated PIP installation method.
  • Start storing price feed history & using for displaying settlement/market rate historical charts.
  • Reduce price feed differences via the above pull requests.
  • Activate the Hertz ABA once there are 9 price feed publishers (we only need 2 more now).

Great work! I fixed my feed. For the BTS Tools there is a typo in your pull request. Line 452 says: 'hertz_value' but should say 'final_hertz_value'

Line 455, not 452 right?
FROM

log.debug('Final hertz value: {} BTS'.format(hertz_value))

TO

log.debug('Final hertz value: {} BTS'.format(final_hertz_value))

Good spot, thanks :)

Great to see our price feeds aligning now :D

I've added this change to the pull request, thanks for your help!

You got it. I should have included a link: https://github.com/wackou/bts_tools/pull/50/commits/6dab28a44cab034d6dc92227ce49201927b7ff9c (on the pull request it was 452) Either way, I am glad to see this coming all together.

Thank you very much for staying us updated regarding hertz, Stay blessed

This is awesome and great in forward momentum. We appreciate all of the time and resources you spend on hertz-aba and the more time and effort and focus you can put into just BTC and Bitshares/Bitcoin and Beyond is much appreciated and it looks like maybe it's time to move on from other and or smaller projects and focus here... You are a value added asset. Congrats and keep up the spectacular work.

P.S. , I am not sure how tied into the project your avatar is borrowed from and it is free and open source , so its ok but its not the correct marketing choice of our community as the logo ( you can check our website if you know the address ) is purple also can check the .science version .io and .ch and I belive the project via github has a /marketing folder if you would like to represent us.. But it seems Bitcoin and Bitshares/BTC is you market and that you do not process science work units on your cpu/gpu cores and mine BTC or just earn it from posts and podcasts.

AFAIK the logos are all creative commons so fair use covers abstract avatar representations of a Gridcoin logo. I don't think it's a big deal to be honest, if anything it might encourage a google search (where the correct logo will be immediately displayed).

But it seems Bitcoin and Bitshares/BTC is you market and that you do not process science work units on your cpu/gpu cores and mine BTC or just earn it from posts and podcasts.

I don't see a problem with this. Many Gridcoin users use Steemit & Gridcoin isn't yet 100% profitable for everyone around the world via POR.

Despite not crunching anymore the team is now doing 25% of all active BOINC computation with no sign of slowing down in growth, which is a crazy success for the project. Blogging, marketing and networking are certainly helpful for encouraging many others to run BOINC for the first time.

I've not done Gridcoin podcasts in like 6 months, and I don't do POW mining just POS staking like 30 blocks/day in Gridcoin.

it looks like maybe it's time to move on from other and or smaller projects and focus here...

Please stop the negativity/aggression towards members of the Gridcoin community. I'd appreciate it if we just mutually hit the 'mute' button on Steemit, thanks :)

If you feel your IRC ban is unjust, then raise the issue with other OPs.

Cheers.
