Few clarifications from Stan

If you're anything like me and spend every day constantly worrying about the price of BTS and its future, you probably have a lot of questions regarding Stan's plans on conquering the market. In the comments to one of his latest posts about helping Houston I asked him a few questions that worried me the most in that day. And after the GODFATHER himself spoke to me I thought that maybe his answers could interest some other people too.
So here's my questions and @stan's answers to them.

  1. This line : "BitShares could easily grow from 15 cents to 150 dollars in two years - if enough people adopt it as their exchange."(from the "Can Bitcoins Rebuild Houston?" post) got me confused - wasn't the goal of Billion HERO challenge to get BTS to $330 in year and a half?

Stan's answer: "Separate campaigns. The Billion Hero Campaign goes .33 to 330. Harvey's Heros goes from current price to 1000x as an example. Actual performance depends on all sorts of factors, like China and US regulators rattling the cage."

which got me confused even more, because if both of the campaigns are built on the same BTS token, their growth should be identical. But then I realized that he probably meant that these are not mutually exclusive: if Billion Hero succeeds - BTS goes to $330, if not - easily to $150.

  1. Why would people still use BTS after EOS came out?

Stan's answer: "BTS will build on EOS and bring with it all that has been built."

Sounds good

  1. What is our answer to Lightning networks? The way I see it, regular people just want to buy their coffee/pizzas/cars etc with their money and don't really care about market pegged assets and exchanges. And when LN comes, our Fast Bitcoin would be the slow one...
Stan's answer:"We are gathering users now, not whenever LNs finally come online, if ever. Besides, they are centralized off chain - not a real honest solution."

Looks like he knows what he is talking about!

  1. Why, in your opinion, none of the huge announcements you made until now have had any effect on the price of BTS?
Stan's answer:"The announcement we've made have only been to the local community, for their benefit. We will be ready for the general public when the new web site is complete, later This Summer."

Sounds fair.

That's it! Hope it will relieve some of your stress or feed your interest.
Maybe I will ask him more and make this a tradition, depending on this post's success and, of course, @stan's willingness to answer silly questions.

I am too disappointed with billion hero campaign. When you're launching big campaign, you got to have things ready in advance to show to people from day one rather than making a promises to come with in the future.

Do the following really align with billion hero campaign?

  • Website is not yet ready. How come is this possible when you're calculating to take BitShares market cap to 1000 times which can make bitshares marketcap 1 trillion in value and over taking companies like Google and Microsoft.

  • You guys are advertising to local community instead of main stream media because platform is not yet ready. So why not yet ready on 4th July when you were advertising heavily for billion dollar campaign. Your technologies must be backed by advertising. If not ready when it is will be ready for advertising then?

  • Bitshares is still hanging between 0.11 to 0.13 since few months. Unlike other crypto currency, bitshares still doesn't have hypes for it so no whales yet which can really get lots of attentions of other small investor. Why? There is no hype around bitshares, only talking about technologies. Technologies are great but to get going, one has to have awareness and hype and big whales initially.

  • Discord channel discordapp.com/invite/JYAtgec doesn't get much updates regularly.

  • No updates on Fast Bitcoin?

At last, I am firm believer of bitshares and I feel it will explode some day. It may have a lot going in the background in marketing but it is not visible so adding my thoughts to legend @stan sir.

Regards

Well I think you got it a little bit wrong.
If you take a look at other coins you'll see that a whole lot of them started with heavy hyping by just stating their goals, not even having the whitepaper yet. So yeah, that is a common thing, to promote your project before anything is done. The thing with the billion challenge, however, is that it aims at the people outside the crypto community who are not familiar with all the stuff we have witnessed here. With these people you actually have to get everything to work perfectly in advance. So what happens right now is @stan promotes the challenge for the local community in order to state his goals and show that bitshares is not abandoned and is having stuff going on. We get updates on the preparation process and they (regular people) will discover it when everything's ready. I am pretty sure you wouldn't prefer for @stan to go completely silent for a few months while they are working on it in order to announce their plans when all is set. That would be completely disastrous for bts, because people would think that there is no development and the project is dead.

Yes, I understand. Thanks for your reply. My concern is that bitshare is so good blockchain platform even compared to ethereum so lack of exposure may be hurting it. I believe now billion dollar campaign will raise awareness of bitshare(the next bitcoin) in coming days! Finger crossed!!

Personally, while I'm very much in favor of marketing, I believe doing so aggressively prior to completion of the work currently being done on bitshares-ui by @billbutler and others would have backfired spectacularly.

I'm disappointed in the lack of marketing for the billion hero challenge. Mainstream media advertising was promised and has not been delivered.

Maybe it is not time yet to start the campaign.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who understands this.

I see you've read this post already...
Well, mainstream media advertising is awesome and all but you can't advertise something that you have nothing to show for. The website is still not finished, they still don't have enough BHAPs to choose 12 from and so on... I also thought that the campaign itself will start at July 4th and by now we would be above $1 per bts but they have just started working on it then

They shouldn't have hyped up July 4th as the start if they knew they couldn't deliver.

It would cause more harm than good if it was started prematurely.
