The BitShares Network is a Decentralized Exchange with a Stakeholder-Approved Project Funding system. That means that everyone holding BTS (Bitshares) can vote for whatever they think is a good thing on the network. Most of these things are by alrady heavy community driven people.
Today I'd like to write about an important worker presented to the Bitshares stakeholders. Yes, You!
HackTheDEX Worker
HackTheDEX worker aims to support potential attack vectors that may be found towards the network to come forth, instead of utilizing a said potential attack vector for hacks.
The program will allocate a predefined sum of funds, up to $250,000 bitUSD, to support this reward. The worker will be enabled for 6 months and cover costs during this period. Worst case, we find several issues with the DEX and have the money to spend for making sure they stay within the network of coders and creators. Best case, we find none and the money will be refunded to the foundation again!
This really is THE worker to vote for!
Voting can be done within the BitShares Wallet (online, or within the Light Client)
Full Presentation available on:
The following are a few snippets from the full presentation
The proposal will use allocated funds to reward those that step forward with exploits, relative to the overall risk assessment of the exploit. The higher the payout for critical bugs, the more incentive there will be to attract higher quality researchers, and ultimately providing better security coverage for the DEX.
Audit Panel
There will be an audit panel, consisting of highly experienced and known users of the community.
When a vulnerability is reported, the panel will be selected from available appropriately experienced and trusted contributors within the respective BitShares development community. The primary points of contact below will be asked to coordinate appropriately experienced and active developers to audit the report and resolve all issues as quickly and safely as possible.
BitShares Core Team: Ryan R. Fox
BitShares UI Team: Bill Butler
BitShares JS: Sigvek (svk)
BitShares Python: Fabian Schuh (xeroc)
Rewards
If a security issue is reported, and all defined rules are met, there are a high rewards to the finder.
Type | Amount |
---|---|
Critical | up to 25,000 bitUSD |
High | up to 10,000 bitUSD |
Medium | up to 5,000 bitUSD |
Low | up to 1,000 bitUSD |
Note | up to 100 bitUSD |
Bounties already in place, supported by the stakeholders
The Bitshares network already rewards users that contribute to the network on several fronts, including these areas:
- The core worker enables a team of several people to enhance the core features
- The UI worker enables a small team together with an open bounty system to enhance the UI features
- The Infrastructure worker enables the deployment of reliable network nodes around the globe with enough resources and necessary plugins to work for the good of the network.
- The Spokesperson worker enables the network to have a single entity for enabling talks towards outside sources to go swift and easy
Vote for me as a Witness
Do you Enjoy what I contribute to the community? Do consider voting for my Witness on Steemit or BitShares. On BitShares I would like to promote @fav as an excellent proxy.
By voting for me as a witness, you will support an active witness on various platforms. I'm a supporter of networks like Steem, BitShares, Gridcoin, Peerplays and Whaleshares.
Why vote on sc-steemit
as witness
Thanks Startail!
The Infrastructure worker proposal is also very useful for the health of the network. I recommend voting for both.
