Touring the Corinthian Canal - with Bitshares Style !

in bitshares •  7 years ago

The Corinthian Canal is a man-made passage that connects the Gulf of Corinth to the Saronic Gulf. The length is 6,346 meters with a height of 78 meters, and only 21.4 meters wide. Currently, only 1 bridge at sea level is active and uniquely SINKS 12 meters below sea level to allow vessels to transit through the canal. There are several vehicle bridges that span the top of the canal.

The "Godfather of Bitshares" @stan, @onceuponatime, Steemit witness @liondani, and myself!

Currently, this is the only active bridge at sea level that sinks 12 meters below sea level for the passage of vessels.

Because a bit of the canal just fell in, you cannot see the vessel immediately behind it. To the right, what a spectacular display of sun rays beaming on Loutraki!

Wicked post @steem-samiam!!!

It must be the best one I have seen from you yet, great job! thanks a lot for sharing this piece of history with us all and for the extra link on the presentation as well. We all win from being informed on such revolutionary events, technological advancements and gathering.

Namaste :)

Thanks so much! It certainly is amazing there...great friends certainly put the wow in Greece for me.

No doubt! You were accompanied by revolutionary minds and the sunshine was at the rendez-vous while the winds were in your sails. It is so good to see and inspiring to be somehow part of this too. Namaste :)

Memorable day for you and what a nice group photo of @onceuponatime @stan and you

Have created this post have a look if u like this stuff

Very cool! The photo with the rats of hope is pretty, too!

I wonder how they built the underwater gate system. That would have presented some interesting engineering challenges, I bet!

No Delphi, eh? That gives you a reason to return, some day.

I was totally fascinated with the mechanical aspect of the bridge because I LOVE bridges and have never seen one that submerges for vessels. I didn’t get time to learn that, soooo yup I’ll be back!!

Wow, very wonderful.
You all look happy and i see you all are having lots of fun together.
Very nice place @ Corinth canal.

You're lucky, I heard there's rarely a ship on the canal right now. I've seen it from above, it's an impressive sight.
Have you visited Meteors?

No I didn’t visit Meteors. There is SO much to see in Greece

Yes, we drove almost all of Greece by car, this country is very rich in interesting places for tourists...

Looks like you guys had fun ! That's a crazy picture with the tigers.

Lol I’m glad you like the tiger photos!

be careful to play with tigers later you can be bitten. i follow you, and i also choose your friend @liondani as a good witness
