Welcome to the 16th Bitshares State of the Network (BSotN) report. I will be releasing this report weekly to look at the changes in the ecosystem and track longer term changes in a effort to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares platform.
Bitshares - State of the Network - 3rd January 2017
The Bitshares State of the Network Reports seeks to combine raw data from a wide range of metrics and combine them into meaningful information to identify emerging trends and changes in the Bitshares network.
Observation from this week
This section will highlight any observations made while analysing the data.
@svk has submitted a worker proposal running for 3 months for work on the Bitshares GUI. SKV has done a lot of working on the GUI in the past and is no stranger to the task; he has just finished working for OpenLedger to revamp their front end. For more details on the worker proposal see the proposal HERE
Soledger has been voted out of his active worker proposal due to lack of transparency on his work; they maybe voted back in, but a lesson here is transparency is key. The shareholders needs to know what you are working on and regular updates help provide visibility.
@blocktrades has recently released a new feature for the OpenLedger.info Bitshares wallet. The Feature is named ‘Internal Conversion’ and allows you to exchange asset ‘x’ for asset ‘y’ in 6 seconds with ease. The Official Announcement can be found HERE
Peerplays have reconfirmed the date of 13th of Jan 2017 for further information related to their upcoming ICO, and also confirmed the referral rewards program is also still upcoming to help spread to word of the Peerplays ICO and earn some benefits for your efforts
@kencode has published his weekly update relating to C-IPFS, Android smartcoins wallets and a special comment relating to Stealth and a better method to facilitate the zkSNARK trusted setup. As part of the update Ken has published an Alpha release of their C-IPFS CLI wallet for MAC and Linux, and a release of the new Android Smartcoins wallet. Find Ken's Regular update HERE and comments related to zkSNARK trusted setup HERE
Christoph Hering (@chris4210) Co-Founder & CEO of Bitshares Munich has also confirmed this week that the Bitshares Stealth products as well as the 6 other projects that the team at Bitshares Munich are working on will all be candidates for profit shares with the Bitshares 'BLOCKPAY' token. That is to say the BLOCKPAY tokens represent a share in the profit centres on all products being developed by the Bitshares Munich team.
Christoph Hering (@chris4210) Co-Founder & CEO of Bitshares Munich has also shared his vision of Echo (chat messenger), Echo is based on the same technology as the smartcoin wallet and as such it is still in development. Chris's vision for the future of Echo is a chat messenger app that will contain 6 crypto currency wallets built in along with stealth transactions, completely encrypted communication (text, voice and video).. basically the Rolls Royce of chat clients. he has also shared their is a lot of interest coming from other community looking to license the 'white labeled' Smartcoins wallet; this of course will be another income stream for BLOCKPAY holders
Openledger has preformed their monthly buyback and burn operation on the OBITS tokens. This month saw 163,555 OBITS bought and removed from the open market, Total Value of the Buyback: 2,545,395 BTS / 10.43 BTC. The burn operation has reducing the supply of OBITS to: 17,124,036. you can find out more information about OBITS HERE or see the official announcement and further details HERE
@xeroc has been preparing a visual dashboard for monitoring our progress with the Bitshares Throughput testing that is being conducted by the community on a decentralized testnet to better understand the performance of the chain. Witness nodes are being built and elected with active witness position on the testnet. Once all witnesses are in place the community will run transaction generation scripts that will attempt to flood the network.
@apptrade will be presenting in this weeks beyond bitcoin session - AppTrade the stock market of apps founded by American entrepreneur Daniel Pineda. They intend to help developers leverage their app's exposure with collaborative funding and distribution through app portfolios. And diversifying risk for investors across a portfolio of apps. Apptrade intends to use Bitshare's blockchain to create and distribute tokens backed by app revenues.
@steempowertwins have been working very hard on their 'LIVEnetwork' project and they will be launching their website and Token ICO on January 06, 2017 @ 12:00PM EST - find out more HERE
The First Bitshares mumble session went off with out a hitch last week and will be a common occurrence each week; this Bitshares focused community discussion will kick off 1 hours before the normal scheduled Beyond Bitcoin hangouts for more details on how to connect check out this weeks Beyond Bitcoin Guest list and be sure to connect in 1 hour early. Connection details HERE
Openledger has preformed their monthly buyback and burn operation on the BTSR tokens. This month saw 6360.62 BTSR bought and removed from the open market. As well as the supply bought at market the remaining supply held by the bts-bitteaser account is also being burned. The burn operation has reducing the supply of BTSR from 10.6 Million to only 3.4 Million; with further buybacks to continue over the next 6 months.
Openledger ICOO monthly sharedrop has just commenced. This is the first of the monthly distribution to ICOO holders and the market seems to approve with the price of ICOO doubling after the release of the news earlier this week. The sharedrop this month was 7.8 BTC which is sourced from profits from the OL ICO operations. With Centz and Apptrade up for ICO this month the next distribution could be one to watch
Openledger is days away from releasing there much awaited new front end / GUI. This secretive project has been under wraps for weeks while the work is being preformed and the whole community is raging to see it unvailed. There are still a few ends to tie up but Ronny Boesing from OpenLedger is hopeful that all will be in place for a release towards the end of this week.
IOU.Sharedrop - The team at BTSABC have celebrated 2017 with a share from of IOU.XFQ, as i am a holder of IOU.CNY, BitCNY and IOU.ABC i recieved a few of these tokens in my wallet today. This (IOU.XFQ) sharedrop is over now as far as i am aware but for more details on this please see the post from @jademont HERE. Thanks Guys; Happy New Year :)
MKR is halting trading on their MKR asset on the Bitshares network in favour of their Eth based token or Open.MKR, The only way to redeem your MKR after it has been frozen is to contact us on chat.makerdao.com in channel bobgate. Once you get your full amount of MKR paid out as MKR on the ethereum blockchain you can then start trading with the Ethereum blockchain on https://mkr.makret/ or deposit to the Bitshares blockchain as OPEN.MKR; The official announcement can be found HERE
