Bittrex support team is swamped due to disabled accounts

Since you are reading this article you've probably noticed a few angry posts about people having their Bittrex accounts disabled due to having multiple accounts or you yourself are experiencing this issue.

There was a huge outrage back in October when Bittrex disabled tons of accounts. They did not announce what was going on beforehand and actually waited few days to even put out a statement on why these accounts have been disabled.

Around this time they very sneakily changed their multiple account policy from Users being able to have multiple accounts to We will automatically detect and disable new accounts linked to existing customers.
Notice that there is no mention of them previously having a different policy. Not to mention the fake date of this policy adoption. The date might have been initially correct as to when this policy page has been created but there is no mention of the policy being changed later on making the date misleading (Probably on purpose, thus people saying that it was changed sneakily).

While one could argue that the fact that one person's id should not viable for multiple accounts there really is no reason as to why Bittrex changed their multiple account policy without an announcement. Also, it is almost certain that Bittrex did not check beforehand how many accounts would get disabled because of the fact that their support team has been swamped ever since. They've resulted to closing their Slack to public and they have also tried to get reddit to take down the unofficial bittrex subreddit.
Had they check they how many people had multiple accounts (via shared id) they could have first hired more people to their support team. In their automated messages they do mention them training new people to deal with the ticket overload but that is something that should be taken care of beforehand as you can easily check how many accounts are linked to multiple ids before writing code that auto disables these accounts.

As of this writing new users cannot sign up to Bittrex which at least makes it that people cannot create new secondary accounts resulting in no more of these tickets being created (hopefully).

With the prevention of new registration Binance has overtaken Bittrex as the number 1 exchange which is where I've been doing most of my trading there lately which saddens me becasue I like Bittrex's interface better (especially their graphs).

I don't like when people only rant and don't offer any kind of a solution so here are my 2 cents:

What is done is done and of course the best thing they could do would be to solve all of their support tickets which unfortunately probably won't happen any time soon but for the time being they could at least:

1.) Create a ticket counter showing the id of the ticket they've most recently solved giving people some sense of progress.
2.) Enable their Slack to public again would also help but I guess we're not quite there.
3.) Change the fact that when a new user verifies an account with an existing user's id, they disable the account of the existing user instead of the new user.

tldr: Bittrex enforced a new policy few months back and their support team has been swamped since.
