How to use Cointracking & Bittrex

Hi,

First things first:

Please watch these 7 or 8 episodes on the history of money by Mike Maloney. I have attached a copy of his book as well if you want to read it.

Episode 4 in particular blew my mind.

On Bittrex - If you go to the Orders page next to Wallets and Settings (top right of page), click on Orders. Once you have concluded a trade there is a little box with a reload sign on it called Load All written on it. Click on that and save the file to your Desktop (I'm sure you can load your trades from any trading platform, I just don't know where they all are on the different platforms, but look for a similar file).

Then head over to cointracking.info, open an account, select Enter Coins/Exchange Imports/Bittrex. Click on Choose File, upload that file from your Desktop.

Select the red box that reads Continue to Import, Start Import.

Go to Reporting/Realised & Unrealized Gains, select Recalculate Trades in red bottom Right.

Now you can look at your gains in EURO or BTC terms. The longer you hold an asset, the more disconnect it shows from BTCUSD and the gains are quite beautiful. So my advice is to take your trades nice and low on the good coins, and hold them for the next leg up.

They will grow, and if you feel comfortable to take some profits and shift them around a bit on Bittrex after an asset has peaked, go ahead and enjoy.

Just remember to download this file from Bittrex and upload it to cointacking.info after every trade. The dashboard on Cointracking isn't half bad either, and you can also do quite a lot of charting in other assets on this website if I'm not mistaken. JUST REMEMBER, YOUR FIRST 200 TRADES TO UPLOAD ARE FREE, thereafter it is an approximate 150 Euro fee to pay for UNLIMITED trade uploads.

Tips on how to use Bittrex:

I mainly trade cryptos priced in BTC, but on Bittrex's home page you can look at them in different markets, like Ethereum.

Bittrex does have it's downsides, but it is a steady platform for me. Ideally I would like to trade off Coinigy's app in the future, and Tabtrader isn't half bad at this stage. Tradingview's website is also cool, but they don't have that many crypto currencies on there, and there are rumours that they are combining 'Trex's assets to their lists.

Bittrex is easy: Top left under Bitcoin Markets you will find your assets priced in Bitcoin, search from there. To the right of that, you have Dollar Markets. These would be your hedges, note you can hedge into USDTether which is sort-of connected to the US Dollar, just hover your cursor over the 3 options and see what pops up.

Anyway, once you have selected your asset on Bittrex, you will see the chart pop up. Toggle time scales top left of chart with the drop box.

All your indicators are under Studies, I use MACD, Williams %R, On Balance Volume, Moving Averages (select Exponential from Simple, changing colours for different periods - the 50, 13, and 200 period intervals are my norm), RSI (Relative Strength Index, sometimes I set it to 7 periods, but 14 is fine), also Bollinger Bands, exponential setting.

Click on any of those, and Create.

Note: With Williams %R and RSI, I recommend buying an asset when W%R is forming a W close to or BELOW the -80 line on a daily chart, also when RSI is close to or below the 20 mark.

MACD (Moving Averages Convergence/Divergence) is a different animal all together, but whenever the black line crosses from under the red line upwards price is on the increase, and when it crosses the red line from above heading down, the price will decrease. Also note oscilation of the asset in the green and red bars over which these lines are displayed, look for W structures in the histogram.

Select your indicators, and as you toggle time frames they will automatically adjust accordingly.

To the left of Studies, you have Chart. So toggle between Line, Log or Candle here.

Fibonacci levels can be selected from the Select Tool menu.

Glad to be of assistance.

Happy hunting.

Rgds,

@tommygun thnx for sharing,im new to cryptos and new to bittrex.

I have been using CoinTracking for the past two years and all I can say are good things. One of the smartest customer support I've ever experienced. I've used about 4 other portfolio tracking, and none come close to what CoinTracking offers, usability and design is great.

The companion app is amazing as well. Now I can quickly see a snapshot of all my investments, regardless of where they are located, in one easy to use app.

Although the free version is good, import each CSV file from each exchange is time consuming, with the PRO version all your transactions are up to date with one time setup.

You can use my affiliate link which gives you 10% discount.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for sharing @tommygun. Is there anyway, we can save the indicators on Bittrex once you've set them?

Unfortunately not, go over to tradingview.com, nav around and set up an account. You can chart all of 'Trex's coins on there as of recent. The charts save automatically and you can build a watch list which is epic. Apparently 'Trex is working on a user interface upgrade so I am looking fwd to that.
