Brooklyn, New York City – 2019 marked the USA’s first anti-fascist extreme metal festival, Black Flags Over Brooklyn.
Punks and metalheads of all ages traveled to Brooklyn in January to attend the two-day music-fest and mini anarchist bookfair.
At the festival we interviewed anti-racist organizer Daryle Lamont Jenkins about how keeping a music scene open to everyone means protecting the space from people advocating violence against marginalized groups.
The full story goes on at length. please take the time to watch the other interviews, too.
It's not everyday that antifa comes into your life in a way that doesn't include immediate self defense, for most of us.
Some of us walk anywhere we want to go with impunity.
Most of us don't.
This post is for you.
Those of you that will never get out and meet those actively pushing back against those that rule us all by force.
Maybe, one day, you will join with us.
You can taste freedom, too.
I bet you never pick your chains up, again.
You will stop being their best cop.
You will stop calling to off people's heads.
Awesome. Thanks for the highlight.
