Who is perfect, cast the first stone... why I'm blacklisted?

in blacklist •  7 years ago

Here, on Steemit, many people post stolen pictures or spam, many people are begging upvotes and many of them do it without consequences. On the other hand, many dolphins and whales are self-upvoting with 100%, and this is disgusting to me. Self upvoting is still allowed! Why? Instead of self-voting, until now, i used voting bots, by reinvesting my SBD, so that i can pay more rewards to the winners of my contests and challenges. Well, i used some bots too frequently and irresponsibly. Yesterday i was blacklisted by @buildawhale, then now by @upme. They haven't rejected my SBD back. I think they will not do it. That's OK. What hurts me is that they did not warn me and didn't tell me exactly why I became blacklisted. At least they would have sent me a private message. Instead, they spread among themselves: "@kalemandra is a dangerous person who abuse Steemit community"!

What's your opinion? Please answer by a comment bellow!

  • am i a spammer?
  • am i posting bad quality content?
  • am i a plagiarist?
  • am i a notorious self-upvoter?
  • are my comments meaningless, like "nice post"?
  • do i destroy the community?
  • do i abuse steemit?
  • do i spoil the reputation of Steemit?
  • is there a need for me, or is it better to leave Steemit?

Based on your answers I decide to stay or leave this community.

My best Steemit friends: if you say i have to leave, i leave forever.

I am flabberghasted! You are one of my exemplary Steemians! And I don't have many. Don't leave us! Fight this one out! I think you are a leader in trying to figure out how to "work" Steemit while concentrating on community building with "normal" folk like us.
Good luck, dear one!

I'm glad to see your comment, reading it with tears in my eyes. I do not know you personally, but I feel you are a blessed good soul.

Why this community needs fucking bots ?? Are humans are not capable or what ?? Everyone is here for money obviously they will think about their pockets and about you @kalemandra i've just reviewed some of your article and they are fucking great :D hell people can't even write 2 sentences by their own. So stop calling yourself a spammer or bad writer your good more than you know. ♥

I agree with you, we do not need bots. I just saw an opportunity in them to promote my posts. It was not always worth it financially, sometimes i lost big SBD amounts. But the most irritative for me is some whales' and dolphins' 100% self-upvoting - they win 5-10-100 SBD with one click. They make much more damage than me, who used bots too frequently. Recently i upvoted myself, but i realized this is also harmful for the community.

There is no shame for up voting your own content everybody does it. People are using bots because no one is willing to pay attention on the users who actually create something useful. Steemit is getting sucks as users are growing day by day. @kalemandra

Self-upvoting is no problem, if you do it responsibly and frugally. Some cents or sometimes 1 SBD doesn't matter, but be not more.

as long as you can Kalemandra, do so. It feels horrible, I know, but all them wales who upvote their selves or family and friends only do it too. So why not? I will spend my first vote on my own post, then my daughter and then my real life friend. I have 7 votes left to spend how I want. Most of them go to contests :-) Because I like contests. pictures, writing, colours like it all. There is far to much alt and coin bull on steemit.

Kalemandra, YOU must STAY. And you will have the support of so many people here at Steemit.
Your personal work is inspirational. Your photography is creative, always different and versatile.
Your Color Challenge has not only inspired professional photographers to share their best colour images, but it has provided an arena that everyone can contribute to ~ Colour being a topic that everyone can talk about.
You share your energy with so many different people too ~ Your responses to the work of others is always friendly and most helpful.
You certaily dont spam, plagerize, or excessively up-vote yourself. And if it has been over-done at times, I agree, you should have been told. Because we know that you would have taken notice immediately.
There is certainly a need for you at Steemit and it would be a shame if something like this forced you to leave. For your own sake and for the sake of others who may at some stage find themselves in this same situation PLEASE stay. Of course the decision in the end is yours alone ~ Unless there is not a choice with this blacklist? ⚖️

@kalemandra, not sure what those bots are doing and why, never used any of them but one thing I know. You are posting daily, you are very active and helping person to others. Your post are original and for this six months I am here and also your follower havent ever seen anything that could cause this kind of thing they done..Please, try to come over this and don't leave, i believe this will come out good. Are there any other persons here who are also high ranked and can be asked for help or opinion?

Bots looked very useful to boost up my posts, that's why i earned a lot of SBD, but i turned them back to bots. That wasn't a good strategy. Bots do not serve the development of the community, they are good only for manipulation.

Yes, i can see that, maybe that's why I was not using them. Saw many people make huge success here and wasn't sure how they made it but I supposed it was that bot moment..Now I see it has other side of medal..But please, don't leave ..Sleep it over, talk to people here..You put so much effort and energy to give it up so easy ..

djee! :-o Kalemandra you are truly the first contest I do each day! I will go and look at your profile to see the things you posted and resteemed, mostly I find things I like too. I do not care if you self-vote, as long as you are allowed to do so, I would do so, especially with your high sp and reputation! My god it is not that you do not share the money out! How dare they! You know it is just as in the real world, some people work for their earnings and some people get it thrown in their laps. Most of this upvote whales have it thrown in their lap! They have no clue! What can we do to help you clean your name?

Today i realized, bots also use other upvote bots and upvote themselves as well, with 100% of course! This is sooo ridiculous!

Yes it is ! And I do not know if you know this saying, when you can not fight them join them? Just accept it is not right that people can upvote themselves! But as long as you can and everyone does, do it. When we all do so it is not bad anymore. :-) Let it go ... they do not bring any joy in anyone's life, you do!

@kalemandra I have not communicated with you before, but I can tell you, many people here (myself included) love what you have done for the community. I hope you stay. I have been here for 6 months, and I must admit, it is sometimes confusing - as far as proper etiquette. Some big accounts here self vote, I thought it was ok to do, although I have never done it. ...very confusing. My account was growing well for the first 6 months, then all of a sudden it stopped. But I realize that I am helping many people who follow it, so I will keep building. Much success to you! I will continue to use your tag :-)

I've just dropped here again to answer your comment. I spent almost two days with answering, then i forgot to do the housework as well! :))) I'm happy you also stand by me as some people, whom i know better, because we have been knowing each other before Steem was born. I feel that some whales do not look good at my activity. I became well-known by #colorchallenge i've been hosting, which became the biggest challenge on Steemit, in not more than a half year. Despite of it, my growth also slowed considerably. Then i found upvote bots, and began to grow faster, and could gather enough SBD to host contests and pay the winners from my reward pool. Unfortunately, I'm sometimes forced to exchange my SBD to bitcoin and then Euros, because i travel a lot and have many other costs, and my mother also needs my financial help sometimes, especially wintertime, when she is cold in her apartment. In addition, SBD, Steem and Bitcoin went under the frog's bottom, so it's not worth it to exchange, but needed. Thank you for your kindness, and excuse me for my English.

@kalemandra Thank you for the response! You have my support. :-) You have really done a great thing for the Steemit community - it's hard, it's confusing, but it's worth it. We will have much success. I will try to remember to follow and resteem your posts more. Thanks, oh, and your English is fine. :-) I have been trying to learn spanish for some time - your english inspires me to get back to practicing my spanish :-)

To tell the truth, i often use translator programs, then correct the text. But i can not speak fluently and don't understand speech - i have a bad ear to understand pronunciation.

@kalemandra I use google translate. What is your native language?

Please @kalemandra dont let this people put you down. I just only have a month here but since the first day I noticed how important are you in this community. Your challenges, good energy and art inspire a lot of people to stay here! Please don’t leave ❤️

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm glad that many people are standing by me.

@kalemandra is strongly disagree with them, I respect you a lot, please don't leave the community, it is people like you that put smile on our faces, you have fed Many a families without even knowing, most of the steemians you see in this community depend on people like you to put food on Thierry table, if you leave it will greatly affect them.you are one of the very few who care about minnows like us, most don't care.please keep up the good work no one is perfect .

I don't leave the community. Just was fed up with some people behind the voting bots. I'm here to motivate and help others. I'm not interested in arrogant big whales, who invested big amounts of money in steem when it was started, and they became very wealthy in one or two years.

The only reason i am using bots is that no one comes and upvotes my content. That to i think i did that only on 2 or 3 posts. Not seeing upvotes on a post is really upsetting.

You are doing none of the things that become a reason for you to be blacklisted. You are not spamming, nor posting someone else's content.

As far as i understand these whales are generally against photography content. I read somewhere, in terms and service of some that they won't upvote for photography content or meme's. They said that they want text based post with long write ups. These duffers consider photography itself as spam. They forget that it takes efforts and skills to take photos. They forget that photos generally sell for lot more money than silly text where one writes about how much sugar they added in their coffee today.

It would be better to upload images on getty and get paid more than uploading photos here on steemit and then buying upvote for oneself.

These bid bots are just frauds. Most people who buy votes from them lose money. They call it paid promotion. But shouldn't their Steem power be used to curate content rather than sell. We all have steem power based on steem we are holding, but the main purpose for that is to reward the content creators, not to sell upvotes. If we are not supposed to get ROI from bots then they are also not supposed to earn money through upvotes. Those upvotes are for curation of content.

I think the main reason they have blacklisted you may be your photography content or the number of upvotes from them in a day.

Don't leave steemit. There are many other bots that you can use. You also have our back. You are a good content creator and we will all support you as and when possible.

I had the same reasons, i had low upvotes despite of my efforts. I'd rather post photography or my art, instead of text content, because i'm not very good in English. Sometimes very tiring to read and write posts, answer to comments. It takes hours a day, and i'm out of time to do other things, like creation. I'm sure i'll not use any bots for a while.

I suspect the good photography is overshadowed by the get rick quick cheap shot photography clickbait. I have not been on here long at all, but I can see how those posts would be annoying, not only to whales, but to someone like yourself whom from what I've seen probably produces quality work.

I get tired of everything on the internet being bombarded by what I see as crap content. But who can blame people when the damn world is so manipulated there are few ways to get out from under the boot and see your family thrive. They are only following the example set by the mentality of those lording over them.

I also get so tired of the 'spell' that language tends to put upon people that sometimes I feel that am image says a thousand times more than words ever could. That being said, not all are perceptive in that arena, and perhaps they just don't 'get' the imagery for what it's intended to be.

I think the fact that your post even has to be published as it is shows just how much the issues within society have to be rectified by a change within people. Those with more so often feel they have some right to dictate what those with less must conform to. That said, there are definitely many people on here that I have met in the past week that clearly have a lot more resources than others and are VERY very helpful to the minnows.

I just followed you lastnight because I liked your posts, so I would say... don't let the critics and controlling minded squash you.... Let them make you stronger and more determined. But do it wisely.

There are people helping others succeed because they realize that everyone has something to contribute if they want to and put effort into it, so don't give up. I have not used bots because unless it can just get me more exposure, that's not what I want. As far as upvotingone's own post, I've seen people do it and have not done it myself. I am still trying to figure out how to get the right exposure and post the right type of content without pissing off the whales myself... in this world there are always unspoken lines when you are at the lower part of the totem pole... but the pole will fall without the integrity of the bottom. Hope my thoughts help you :)

@kalemandra I have begun using Steepshot for this very reason. I have a business, children with special needs, and I perform regularly. I am not always able to write LONG blogs :-)

I think you should continue!!! Maybe listen to yourself what its says to you !!! You can continue without bots , what is matter with that;; Steem on @kalemandra!!

You are right, i already deleted the bot links, and i have no intention to use them any more. At most, there will be not so much SBD, but i don't mind.

The general theme of this post along with all of the complaints found in the comments can all be summed up in one word: capitalism. If you look at it from the perspective of capitalism, everything about Steemit makes sense. If there are things you do not like about capitalism, then there will definitely be things about Steemit that you don't like. I wrote an article that covers quite a few of these issues. Perhaps you'd care to give it a read? It might help give you some perspective.

Anyway, I like art, obviously, so I think you should stay!! :D

Thanks, i'll read your post.

Dont leave -
i cant see anything youve done wrong -
your content is always a great inspiration here -

i think here on Steemit are more other Steemians ,
they make scam and abused the System
with highly selfvoting and other Things -

you are not in this Liga - defently not !!!

To take bots are not unusual - i do it sometimes too...
without a shame... other great Artist do it too ....

Please Stay and lets have a good time here further
yeah - Steem on :-)

Thanks for your encouraging words! I stay, but i was disappointed with bots. They are the biggest abusers, their benefits are only temporary. I hold on, with good contents and help other people with my motivation.

This is a miniature of a real capital-driven society.... inequality may exist. Whoever has a large capital may rule. Sorry I’m just getting sentimental....

Your posts be been great and you are talented and passionate about art and photography.

I suggest you should find out what’s possibly gone wrong and appeal. Best of luck.

Thanks! I've just read about this system, and begin to understand it. The essence is: money makes money.

ok, there is a great deal of controversy on paid bot voting that do not care what they upvote and will vote spam over and over again making it thrive, I don't think your stuff is spammy at all and I know it's your own art as well, you are just getting caught in the crossfire and they are hammering on the bots real bad and in turn they hammer on the users. You should plead your case because you help out minnows within the community you have built and interact with your followers daily, if anything don't leave because of a petty dispute. And how you were treated really isn't fair to you, they could have given you the courtesy of a warning and an explanation as to what they consider a "quality" post. Frankly some are posting images ripped off the internet 100 times a day and that is somehow allowed along with $100 self votes 6-7 times a day for crap content.

I hope you don't see my suggestions as my opinion or an attack on your work, just simply constructive criticism based on the flagging wars posts and comments I have been following along with spammycat that goes around downvoting various users for stupid reasons and using the wrong bot and I don't want these sort of action taken against you to aggravate your current predicament and confidence because they are on a reckless path of destroying good steemians like yourself. You do not abuse the platform or "destroy" the reputation of steemit

#1 suggestion don't buy votes or at least multiples per day or post.

#2 suggestion, A picture is worth a 1000 words, but the story behind it enriches the image so much more. I hear a lot of complaints about post with a picture or two and not much text could be seen as low quality posts and paid votes really makes that stand out. quality content can be a different definition from user to user and perhaps the bot people are not art or photography enthusiast therefore wouldn't see the value you intended

#3 suggestion, for your color challenge get redundant with only the photos daily and the same text over and over with no variation could be seen as spammy by someone who doesn't take the time to research you and your blog as a person and are not ino photo's, perhaps like I mentioned above, write a story with your color challenge and perhaps inform your participants to do the same because they could be judging the movement as a whole and there are lots of low quality images under that tag ( not yours) but it's your movement and they could be judging you for it . Another suggestion, maybe have your followers post it on your appropriate daily blog for a competition instead of flooding the feed if it were to remain a picture only post on their part.

I can think of many users that destroy the reputation of the platform and terribly abuse of the rewards and you are not one of them or even come close. As mentioned above, plead your case and learn from the outcome, but you are just an innocent casualty of the bot drama. Stay, don't leave.

Thank you for your constructive response. The biggest problem is that i have a lot of problems with English language though i have been learning it since my childhood, i can not speak and do not understand speaking and spend hours to write a half page. This is my biggest effort, and very tiring. I have a bad ear to foreign language, this is a special Hungarian feature, because Hungarian is very different from every other languages. I use a translator of course, because i can not learn the words or mix them. (i spent with this text more than a half hour to compose).

I feel your pain, I am french and it is very different from english(I have been learning for 20 years) and the 2 don't translate well together. perhaps write in your own language and summarize(short version) the idea of your text in english, maybe that could be more comfortable for you and not get you "blacklisted" ? I don't think they consider that not everybody is good in english and language barriers are very real when they "judge" posts. To make my english better and learn, I used children books , it helps a lot because it's simple.

I think this is a good response! I don't know all of her work and have not been on Steemit long so I can olny offer so much in the way of a helpful answer. :)

I enjoy your content a lot!

Thank you!

Your content is good, I dont believe bots or AI should be used, this should be a social media & not become anti social propaganda like facebook and shitter etc

Same here mam . I m really disappointed. But doing good work

Thank you! I'll be staying here, don't leave this community.

you did nothing wrong so please stay

Don't worry, i stay here :)

can we not all use that bot, with all and most of us? To promote this article??? hihihihi little devil in le comes loose.

I deliberately didn't promote this post with bots. I use some of them now again, but just with small bid amounts and moderately. And i have a bot-blacklist, too! (buildawhale and upme, and the number will grow!)

you keep your fans darling! x
