How do you secure your online self from electric failures?
Get yourself a 12v deep cycle battery.
You'll need an electronic charger to keep it well maintained. Some UPS devices will charge the battery if you connect the UPS's internal 12v terminals to the battery switch the UPS's inverter off.
You can connect all manner of 12v devices to this, many routers can run directly from the battery's terminals, check that they can take 12v as an input, and make sure you get the polarity right before you connect the battery. Some NAS devices can also be powered directly from 12v.
Be careful not to make the line between the battery and the device too long (on 12v, 10 meters is usually too long). The wiring that carries the power has a voltage drop that increases with every meter. On the other hand lights at the end of thin long wires might actually consume a little less power at the cost of some brightness.
PROTIP: Add some fuses and fuse holders and put them on the positive line leading to each device, this can prevent burnt wires, and even fires that can occur when short circuits happen. Use small fuses if they're automotive.
Get a car laptop charger and phone chargers to keep your gadgets online without the drain of an inverter.
