New blacksmithing project

Started this miniature axe wile at school, I had the extra time in my class. So I busted out the settling torch and forged a rough shape out of mild steel. Took to the grinder for main shape of the axe. Brought it home started the horror of the sanding process. I had to go through the usual process 100,150,200,220,340,400,414,1200,2400,6400 sanding grits. This was just for the top back and bottom for the axe head. The next day I drilled and filled the slop in the back of the head to insert the black walnut handle, with a brass binder in the rear.the walnut was gratuitously provided by the woods teacher. Used a jig saw for the rough shape then a file for the main shape. Then to go home and begin the horror process again. After finishing that I had found a price of brass lying around, and decided to add some contrast to it. Brought it back to school one last time, I cut the main bevel on it with a belt sander. Now taking it home we're it shall forever remain. I have the final sanding on the handle to do, the final sanding to a mirror finish on the top, bottom ,back ,and bevel. Then use a two part epoxy to glue the handle and brass into it's final resting place. I'm estimating it to be another 5-6 hours of work until it's a finished product. These are the photos of it's current state, will post final pictures when it's finished.KIMG0043.JPGKIMG0048.JPGKIMG0045.JPGKIMG0042.JPGKIMG0041.JPGKIMG0039.JPGKIMG0037.JPGKIMG0034.JPG![KIMG0034.JPG]KIMG0033.JPGKIMG0032.JPG
