According to a recent report from The Cosmic Circus, Marvel Studios Blade will appear at the next Halloween Special Werewolf by Night Marvel plans for Disney +. The special aims to fully introduce the concept of werewolves into the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will serve as a one-shot special for fans to enter the spirit of Halloween later this year. However, the report points out that Mahershala Ali will appear in the next special. It essentially acts as the physical debut of the long-awaited Marvel character after its pure appearance in Marvel's Eternals. As of
, it's unclear what purpose Blade will serve in the next special, but given his vampire hunting tendencies, for some werewolves who may choose to chase him. Probably not a very good omen. Ali said last year that he was ready to start making his next blade movie and was excited to dive into the character.
Werewolf by Night is the name used by two different Marvel characters. The first created by Gerry Conway, Mike Ploog, Roy Thomas, and Jeannie Thomas was Jack Russell, a descendant of the lycanthrope, a form of demi-human that can freely transform without a full moon. The second was Native American Jake Gomez, whose tribe was cursed by lycanthrope. Gomez characters were created by Taboo, Benjamin Jakendov, and Scott Eaton. It's unclear if either character will be included in the next special. It was previously announced that Laura Donnelly (The Nevers) and Golden Globe Award-winning Gael Garcia Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle) will be performing specially. Donnelly may be playing Nina Price, which will be Vampire By Night. She is the niece of Jack Russell in the comic and has the lycan gene, and after she is bitten by a vampire, she becomes a hybrid of vampires and werewolves.
