I was going through old negatives again and here are some I have found. These people worked hard. We here stories about the "good old times" maybe it was but they sure did have their work cut out for them. Looking back with these negatives of the Page family, can you imagine if someone from their time came to our current year. Oh man I bet we would seem pretty futuristic.
Here they are working the field. That must have taken days depending on how large the field was. To have four oxen to pull the plow, the dirt must have been pretty hard.
Here is the wheat bundled up. This would take awhile. Imagine all the bundles they must have had.
Does anyone remember a crop growing this high? We sure don't see this now a days. Unless someone has some pretty old seed.
This baby buggy was the Cadillac of baby buggies in their time. Remember these old cars. Now we only see them in the summer at the car shows or at a show and shine. For those who don't know what a show and shine is, it is when those who have old cars decide to meet at a popular location to show off their cars.
I see quite a few negatives of the men milling wood. This was a big deal back then. We also have before and after pictures of the piles of wood. As you can see the stack of unmilled wood was taller than the guy milling the wood. The team of horses in the back are there with a flat bed wagon to take the milled wood to a different location.

It's always a pleasure be at farm, those oxen, the plowing, those crops, you made me remember the days I use to go to field when I was a kid.

Yes, I felt happy seeing those photos. Here in India (and I think in most of the countries) farming is the main work for more than 70% of people and it feels nice to have some farm and grow something to support the family and to support our nation which depends on the farmers.

I agree. It is nice to be able to do something beneficial for the community. Here there are so many GMO farmers we have to be very careful. I sure hope it is not the same over there. Our wheat fields do not grow as tall as the one in the picture. The crops are maybe a foot to a foot and a half tall.

Nice to know about variety in same crop over different locations.
GMO crops are getting spread in India as well, but good thing is, the farmers who are staying far away from cities, and those who want to grow for themselves aren't interested in such crops as those even-though financially profitable, not good for the consumption for family members.

Personally, I like "good old times" better. Everyone didn't have lots of material things but they seemed to be happier. Sometimes, I wish it didn't change.
Growing up, I saw ox working in the field. They are like family. They produced no pollution, but fertilizer, and meat at the end of their life.

I have always wanted a buggy like that. They must have been the most comfortable for the babies. I have a friend who's bf would go in the forest with a big work horse, cut down trees and bring it out. Old fashion style like before. I was amazed that they still do that. Its much better towards our forests and land to do it that way than have it all bulldozed just to make a trail to get to the trees they want. If the people back then were to travel to this day, I think they would go into a depression or suffer trauma of some sort. Looking at the population of people with their faces glued to their phones, a lot trying to gain disability to not work... I even seen an article of people trying to pay others to cut off a limb so they can become disabled and not work! It's disgusting. Yet the other day I seen a video of people from overseas working hard while missing their hands or a leg and just keep at it. This world is at a loss. Thank you for posting these old images to a time of great.

Wow, life is crazy right now. I never knew that people may want to cut off a limb to be on disability and not have to work. You are so right this world is in a rough place right now.
We don't have a work horse but we use the quad and a sleigh to get wood out of the bush in the winter. We only take what we need. These bulldozers that clear all the trees and don't use all that they take is crazy. It seems that things are upside down right now. I can't wait for things to go back to they way they were. It would be so cool if we could go back to the old ways with a few additions of technology and with the idea that we don't harm others or the earth. Hmmm maybe one day.

Love the old photos, Carey! They bring back so many of my memories visiting my grandparents on the farm. Granddad worked with horses in the fields. The buggy my mum used for me was the one my grandmother used for her when she was a baby. It was wicker and had huge wheels.
