The prayer of David: With your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever. 2 Samuel 7:29

in blessing •  last year

The Second Book of Samuel relates that David, after being crowned King of Israel, conquered with his own troops with a surprise attack the city of Jerusalem, which was occupied by a Canaanite people. In this way and through a series of battles with the Philistines David was able for the first time to secure the borders of Israel, which his predecessor King Saul could not achieve, but this task was not a military campaign of months but of years.
And so after bringing the Ark of the Covenant to the city of Jerusalem, the King reflected and in this way, he launched into his last great project, the construction of the first Jerusalem temple. David was a righteous and God-fearing man and so David, moved by the spirit, spoke to the prophet Nathan: "Here I am, living in a house of cedar, while the ark of God remains in a tent" 2 Samuel 7:2.
For his love, God rewarded David through the prophet Nathan who prophesied to him a Kingdom that would never be destroyed and that would be in the presence of God: "Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever" 2 Samuel 7:16. For Christianity this fact has a deep meaning because it is from this pact that the prophecies about the birth of Jesus begin.
Due to the words of the prophet Nathan, King David was deeply moved, so he made a prayer to God thanking him for his blessing:
"So your servant has found courage to pray this prayer to you. Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your covenant is trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, Sovereign LORD, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever" 2 Samuel 7:27-29.
This story of David demonstrates how important the fear of God is to achieve true happiness.
