The Bliss of the Wise: The worthless will not attain her, and the haughty will not behold her. Ben Sira 15:7

The teacher of Wisdom Ben Sira meditated deeply on the truth, and for this reason, he wrote a book and penetrated in the wisdom of God.
And among his teachings stands out a beatitude related with the spiritual perfection of wisdom: "Happy those who meditate on Wisdom, and fix their gaze on knowledge; who ponder her ways in their heart, and understand her paths" Ben Sira 14:20-21.
And wisdom is a blessedness because it is a gift from above and not a simple human virtue like justice. Through wisdom, the sapiential books teach, such as the book of Ben Sira, men can know the mysteries of God, the mysteries of life and death, and everything that exists and is not accessible to human reason; the invisible realities exist and those who do not know this fact cannot know themselves.
How beautiful is wisdom, the wise man insisted in his teaching, she is the true mother of all blessings for man, and whoever finds her discovers a hidden treasure. This is why Ben Sira described in his book the bliss of the wise man and the misfortune of the fool, not to criticize but to teach the best and most excellent. Wisdom and foolishness are essentially mentalities, that is, ways of perceiving reality, which translate into completely opposite paths, righteousness ( "Do to no one what you yourself hate" Tobit 4:15) and sin.
This is how Ben Sira described what awaits those who discover wisdom as that pearl of great price:
"She will exalt him above his neighbors,
and in the assembly she will make him eloquent.
Joy and gladness he will find,
and an everlasting name he will inherit" Ben Sira 15:5-6.
But Ben Sira also wrote about the misfortune of fools:
"The worthless will not attain her,
and the haughty will not behold her.
She is far from the impious;
liars never think of her.
Praise is unseemly on the lips of sinners,
for it has not been alloted to them by God.
But praise is uttered by the mouth of the wise,
and its rightful owner teaches it" Ben Sira 15:7-10.
