I'm seeking people's opinion on this... I have a friend who is a software developer in an airline-related field. It occurred to me that his software could integrate blockchain to track various things like purchases, airplane maintenance, etc. His question back (and the question I'm posing here) is "What would the compelling value to the customer be?" He said the software already tracks and initiates purchases, maintenance, etc, so why would the customer want this new version? More secure? Cheaper? Faster?
Thoughts?
Great job on making your first post! That's a good question. I think the security of airlines isn't a huge issue to most customers. Security as far as their finances go. Blockchain would be perfect for some utility however. Cable, gas, electric. If we could get our meters running through blockchain that would be awesome! There is a huge market for meter fraud.

Yeah, that would be a great market. On the airline issue - he's involved on the safety side, and is one of the largest developers of safety software, where they have to document when they do maintenance, where the part came from, who installed it, and when the next maintenance needs to be done. Korean Air is his main client, as they had a number of crashes years ago caused by poor maintenance and what is referred to as "safety culture."
