I'm sure almost everyone heard about voice recognition services and many of us are using voice assistants like Amazon's Alexa, Apple's Siri and Microsoft's Cortana every day. Of course, voice recognition is the future, you can't argue that the idea of just asking the computer to do what we want instead of typing the instruction sounds pretty cool. But while providing great convenience current solutions has a huge issue - the lack of privacy.
Аnd this problem is especially relevant in this field since the voice assistant has to always be on and "listen" to everything that's going on around to be able to react to the wake words. Big corporation's don't even try to refute the fact that they are collecting customers data and even allows the government to use their hardware to spy on us. And while some companies say they are private, that's just mean the privacy by trust, since the only thing we can do is to believe that don't the product we purchased doesn't spy on us.
They centralize all our personal data in one place, making us all vulnerable to mass surveillance and hacking. They exploit and monetize our personal data without giving us anything in exchange. They put at risk our privacy and that of our families. They exploit developers without caring about their future, asking them to publish their products on app stores before arbitrarily kicking them out.
Source: Snips FAQ
In short, Snips is a project that uses blockchain technology to develop smart and powerful voice assistants, which may provide the same quality as the current market leaders, but at the same time protect customers privacy. Snips' team goal is the development of a core open-source software which will gain support from the community as well as the development of hardware that will be able to process users' data directly without sending it to the cloud. Snips App Store - is a decentralized, private-by-design platform that allows everyone to create and publish apps. Developers will be able to monetize their apps based on the usage. Snips' team is also planning to launch snips devices (Snips AIR) in 2019, which will be easier to use for regular customers, but developers and companies can already integrate snips voice with their products and devices. Snips was started in 2013 and though they already got an impressive amount of investments (~22M euros year-to-date) from investors such as The Hive, 500 startups, Eniac Ventures, Brent Hoberman, Xavier Niel, MAIF, Avenir, Korelya Capital, BPI France, they still going to do an ICO, the purpose of which, I thinks, is more promotion, than money. So friends, thanks for the time spent reading this :)What is Snips?
Users are able to create, train and publish voice assistants using apps from the app store, which may be easily installed on the Android or Linux devices.Snips Token Sale
Snips is going sell 48% (4,800,000,000) of the total Snips AIR token supply (10,000,000,000) in some stages and only 10% is currently offered. The token sale participation is highly controlled by the team, as I've noticed, and directed to attract developers at first.
Today I've told very little about Snips project, so if you were interested, I'll suggest you check out some more links:
