The Runes protocol, allowing inscription of data on Bitcoin, saw a surge in usage after its launch, briefly dominating half of all Bitcoin transactions.

However, this hype was short-lived, dropping significantly by May 2nd. Despite the decline, Runes remain more prevalent than other similar protocols like Ordinals.

While the long-term viability of Runes remains uncertain, some believe its underlying technology holds promise for future Bitcoin applications.

Beware of Bitcoin hype!!
