Researchers from San Diego State University developed an AI system called GiveawayScamHunter to identify and track cryptocurrency giveaway scams on X.

The system discovered 95,111 scam lists and 327 scam giveaway internet domains between June 2022 and June 2023.

The researchers also collected 121 new scam-related cryptocurrency wallet addresses and estimated that over 365 victims have been scammed for an estimated financial loss of 872K USD.
