The trolls are at it again. This time trying to patent blockchain a technology that has no single ownership and is generally open source. Most patent trolls don't have a clue how blockchain works. The idea of trying to patent anything that is decentralized is just ridiculous. If they want to burn their money let them because no patent will ever stop open source blockchain applications from growing.
Lets take for example a decentralized blog application like SteemIt is attacked by a patent troll. Its highly likely it will happen sooner or later. First SteemIt should be relatively decentralized by then, maybe a few thousand nodes or more. Stupid patent trolls don't realize in order to shut us down they have to shut down all 1000 nodes. Every single node needs to be eliminated which will be in every part of the world. They are not up against a startup they are up against a giant Army. If just one node in the group is backed up offline the patent troll is in for a rude awakening when the entire application comes back to life after they think they won.
This whole blockchain patent phase should not last long. Its really not possible to patent open source decentralized applications. Who are they going to take to court? They might as well try to say there is a patent on the dollar and we are going to stop everyone from violating the US dollar patent. Centralized organizations trying to take money from decentralized organizations... If that ever happens then that defeats the entire purpose and benefits of decentralization.
