Given the rapid growth of the Internet industry, there is still no effective and profitable market for monetizing and distributing content. Soar platform is a decentralized project that intends to provide a content platform and professional tools to providers to monetize unused or single-purpose content. The product that Soar offers is a global democratized cryptographic map based on the use of the content got from drones. The idea of creating such a project was provoked by the state's need for US military services. In 2015, the US government received the request from the US Department of Defense to provide alternative ways of mapping against the backdrop of the growing volume of the US army. These units required geospatial applications in tactical situations. Last year, technology created by Soar, was already available for commercial applications. Soar technology was developed by the Australian company Takor Group Ltd. Takor Group in Australia will conduct the development and technical support of the operations of Soar platform. The processing of day-to-day operations will be performed in Singapore. This territorial dispersion is primarily due to the best conditions for the technical development of the project in Australia and the absence of stringent legislative regulation with respect to digital assets in Singapore.
Key features of Soar
Soar project offers conditions for better use of quadcopters. With the support of US military service, photos of the terrain will be collected in one storage. When enough aerial photos are collected, these data will be added to a single map. The level of map detalization will exceed the existing satellite maps, and will allow users to travel through time. The main problems associated with the data of cartographic applications for drones related to content limitations. The blockchain-based platform will create a decentralized, unchangeable database used by the platform to validate the accuracy of the data collected by quadcopters. Soar allows storing files of any type, collected by drones, namely photos, videos, aerial photos, etc.
Advantages of Soar
To stimulate content creators, Soar will release the ERC20-compatible cryptocurrency called SkyMap Tokens (SKYM), which will facilitate transactions. Scalability will be achieved through the decentralized nature of the platform and partnership with Alibaba Cloud. Soar platform will create a decentralized market for unmanned aerial vehicles. SKYM tokens will be used to provide financial support to content creators in order to sell their data. However, the main role of the token is to act as a free market value calculator for developing the use of drones. The difference in the price offer is reflected in the amount of financial reward for content creators, allowing them to act to collect relevant and profitable data. A user places information collected by drones and describes in detail its main parameters. With the help of a comprehensive filter, a buyer finds an object that he/she needs, and acquires it from an operator for the platform tokens. The price is set by each user independently.
The created map is a visualization of the terrain and can be used by operators of unmanned aerial vehicles to optimize data collection. Each grid is a node in QuadTree. The value of the data in this grid is based on the market supply-demand ratio. Initially, the nominal market price will be set by Soar to ensure a successful start-up, however this value is set by default and eventually the price will be determined by voting of the project participants. The whole world will be divided into QuadTree, where each grid has four related cells representing the next zoom level. The uniqueness of QuadTree is that it requires a much larger level of scaling (hence a deeper QuadTree) in order to facilitate higher resolution of maps from drones. Now, when approaching the full scale, the coordinate space is shown with inaccuracies, which the project improves with the help of digital mapping. Although QuadTree also allows the artificial intelligence platform to evaluate and provide data to a client, it will be geospatial complex data processing, i.e. the creation of the content.
When a camera-manipulator captures an image, it automatically writes information to EXIF file. The description includes such data as GPS coordinates, the height and size of the camera lens, serial numbers and a number of additional data. The hardware of a drone simultaneously records an XMP file that consolidates the speed of a drone and the technical characteristics of a photo taken. EXIF and XMP data are used to initialize the user interface and optimize the georeference process.
Thus, the resulting image is an aerial map with GPS data and flight height of a drone. On the platform, the image can be posted as accurately as possible using Pythagoras technology. Due to inaccuracies, GPS platform will provide a user with a mechanism for fine-tuning the georeference by manipulating the presentation of data on traditional satellite maps. The project creators proved that in more than 1,000 samples of images made using the platform model, EXIF and XMP files allow obtaining a more accurate image. In addition to information on georeference, it should be noted that the content market requires contextual metadata about the content of an image. User interface will request basic information from a content creator, such as title, description and tags, allowing end users to filter and search for content.
Soar has established a strategic partnership with Alibaba cloud services, which, unlike other solutions for storing files in a cloud, provide a truly global access to the entire content of drones. It is important to note that many current cloud storage vendors are limited to geographic regions. For example, Google Cloud and Amazon cannot function reliably in such countries as China, Iran and Russia.
As with any blockchain-based application, a user will experience difficulties in the first attempt to interact with the decentralized system. So, you need to create cryptocurrency wallet, buy ETH and register on the project. To optimize this process, a SkySponsor sponsorship model was created on the platform. Any person who has SKYM tokens can claim to be a sponsor. In exchange for participation and investment, users will receive a part of the profit from the sales of a content they sponsored. In addition to single-purpose content for future consumption and sale, Soar represents two new profitable mechanisms - SkyTasker and SkyBounty. SkyTasker model will facilitate the reconciliation of transactions between unmanned aircraft operators and users who require a video with a drone. SKYM payment for this model will be carried out in frames of a special smart contract that will transfer funds as soon as the content creator will fulfill the request. If any party is dissatisfied with the result or the process of work, the decision regarding the completion of a transaction will be made by a third-party arbitrator. SkyBounty program is a market-based tool that allows rewarding content creators with SKYM tokens. SkyBounties is also used to advertise content.

All calculations within the project are carried out using smart contracts. The most interesting part of a transaction is the metadata that contains JSON payload. Soar allows to freely change metadata without the need to generate a new smart contract when performing a new transaction. SKYM tokens are used to carry out internal calculations which are generated by utility type and are based on the Ethereum according to the ERC20 standard. SKYM will also act as a discount system for SkySponsor and as a voting mechanism. A total of 350 million tokens were issued, of which 130 million were allocated for sale. The project's hardcap is 19.5 million. The pre-sale has already been successfully completed that allowed to attract $17 million to the project. The registration for the participation in the main crowdsale has already started and, given the excitement on preliminary sales, potential investors need to register on the project as soon as possible.
Summary
Thus, Soar platform offers its users high-quality mapping services around the world. Thanks to Soar, a user is able to use a map with metadata about a file (shooting location, date, height, type of drones, name, description, etc.), the name of a drone operator and information about an unmanned operator. When carrying out trade operations, a buyer sees only the number of a cryptocurrency wallet without the ability to view confidential information about its owner. Soar project developers will use the collected funds to develop the technical component of the platform. The business model of the project is built on charging commission for a transaction from each sale of data made through Soar platform.
The decision of the project creators to use blockchain technology is connected with the ability to verify the data being posted, identify the drones themselves and provide a high level of information protection against unauthorized use. For example, a video captured by drones and loaded into Soar is recorded with the date, location, and content. These data are placed in a distributed book and cannot be changed or used without the permission of an owner.
Soar platform will be owned by Soar SG Pte Ltd, which is currently in the process of registration and will be based in Singapore.
