We have heard of TCP and IP at one point in our lives, what really is TCP and IP? How did it come to place?
The TCP/IP model was originally developed for the Unix Operating System in 1970 by the The Defence Advanced Research Project Agency(DARPA) for use in the ARPANET which was a Wide Area Network that preceded the internet but the TCP/IP technology was used in all operating system that was created after the Unix Operating System.
Transmission Control Protocol(TCP) and Internet Protocol(IP) The TCP/IP can be used as an INTRANET or EXTRANET as a communication protocol in a private network as a communication suite protocol used to interconnect network devices in the internet(The INTRANET which is a local or more restricted communication network especially a private network created using the World Wide Web software which is use for sending information, collaboration tools etc.. and the EXTRANET which is more of a Private Network that uses internet technology and public telecommunication system to securely share post of business information or operations with suppliers, vendors, partners etc to other businesses)
TCP/IP networks was designed to be reliable with the ability to recover automatically from the failure of any device on the network, Used as a means for exchanging data over the internet, the internet makes provision for an end-to-end communications that will identify effectively how it should be broken into different packets, addressed, transmitted and routed which will be received at the destination.
TCP defines how application can create channels of communication across network.
IP makes it possible to address and route each packet effectively to make sure it reaches the right destination.
TCP/IP uses the client/server model of communication in which a user or machine (Called The Client) provided a service like (sending a webpage) by another computer (Called The Server) in the network.
