One of the biggest hurdles I see before us in the crypto space is something relatively trivial -- explaining our terminology to the general public. Something most engineers spend an entire career trying to perfect. And grumble the entire time (you know who you are..and I feel you).
How do we take something incredibly complex and so simple that a 5 year old could understand?
If we can't manage that -- then this space won't go very far. Bitcoin, Ethereum, ZCash, Monero, Litecoin all need champions willing to help normal people understand the concepts. If we want TRUE growth, we must first bring in the "outsiders" with the puzzled look on their faces.
Where We Exist Now
Satoshi, the group, the person the mysterious wonder released the white paper entitled "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" on May 24, 2009. Just over 8 years ago from this post.
Seems like a long time. So much has happened. In just the 5 years before today we've seen an increase of ~8,539.323% in total market cap. That's an insane trajectory.
Now -- If we compare that to the total market capitalization of the world -- ~64.85 trillion.
We're not even in the first inning.
See that chart above? That's Roger's Innovation Adoption Lifecycle. Put your finger on the first segment. Now move it just to the left of the middle. That's where we are.
If we pair the total crypto market cap against the total world market cap -- we're only just above 1% of total adoption.
Become a Champion
It's time for us to start converting our tech language into concepts that people can easily understand. That's why I created this account -- to challenge myself, and those of you out there willing, watching to help bring the community up around us.
Until next time.
