Introduction to BORA Island
While blockchain technology is receiving more attention than ever and is slowly moving forward towards mainstream adoption, there is still a lot of missed opportunities due to the complicated nature of the technology and the low level of user-friendliness. Blockchain technology would lend itself perfectly for the content industry; however, many content providers are missing out on the advantages that blockchain has to offer. This is where BORA Island comes in. BORA Island strives to develop a decentralized ecosystem that helps content providers by accommodating to their needs in such a way that it becomes easier for them to connect to the blockchain ecosystem.
The BORA ecosystem will be comprised of the following four layers, namely: (1) BORA Island, the token wallet service for general users. (2) BORA Lagoon, the testnet where developers can test the BORA platform. (3) BORA Explorer, which provides transaction information of BORA Chain. (4) BORA Atoll, an operations guide for business partners.
BORA Island (mainnet) scheduled to be released in Q2 2019
A few weeks ago, BORA released their testnet called BORA Lagoon. At the moment BORA Lagoon is undergoing thorough testing by BORA’s developers and partners. If you want to get a taste of BORA Lagoon you can test the platform for yourself at: https://testnet.bora-lagoon.com/portal/. If the test phase goes as planned then the full release date of BORA Island is planned to be during the second quarter of 2019.
BORA’s Token system
BORA’s ecosystem will be comprised of a dual token system, namely: (1) the BORA token and (2) the BORA Swell token. BORA tokens are ERC20-based tokens and can be used to trade with other users within the ecosystem or externally on exchanges. BORA Swell, on the other hand, is only meant for internal use within the BORA ecosystem. For instance, users that wish to play games through a dApp on the BORA Island platform or want to buy in-game items can do so using BORA Swell tokens.
