In this article about BORA I will provide an overview of BORA Lagoon. BORA Lagoon is the testnet of BORA Island (mainnet). BORA Lagoon has three main features (BORA Test Ground, BORA Explorer and the BORA Toolkit) which I will discuss later on in the article. BORA wants developers and other interested community members to participate and interact with the platform. But before we discuss Bora’s testnet ‘BORA Lagoon’, Let’s first do a recap of the BORA project. What are they all about and what is their ultimate goal for their platform, called BORA Island?

BORA Island
BORA aims to create a platform that allows content developers to deploy decentralized entertainment/content applications on their BORA Island platform. BORA will utilize the Ethereum network as their public chain and they will create their own internal BORA Chain that will have a modular structure and provides high transaction processing. This will provide the necessary performance and scalability to facilitate commercial content services.

Besides having a dual-chain structure, BORA Island also has a dual-token structure. BORA token is the chain’s main token and is ERC20 based. BORA Swell is the platform’s internal token and can be used or generated by interacting on the platform. BORA Swell can be converted to BORA tokens through the BORA Token Manager in the Core layer. The structure for the application ecosystem is comprised of three layers, the previously mentioned core layer, the application layer and the service layer.

BORA Lagoon is the testnet version after which the mainnet will be launched. The mainnet launch of BORA Island is planned for Q2 of 2019.

BORA Lagoon
BORA Lagoon has launched and the testnet is officially open to the public for testing purposes. Whilst BORA Lagoon is mainly focused on developers, other interested parties can also participate in testnet activities. Play the test game Tower Blocks or convert BORA tokens into BORA Swell, transfer BORA test tokens to a friend or have them deposit BORA test tokens into your account.

The dashboard of the BORA Lagoon testnet is very user friendly. The upper bar consists of: BORA Token, BORA Swell, Token exchange and history tabs where the tokens can be deposited, transferred, converted and you can check your transfer history. The main page of the testnet also allows you to play the test game ‘Tower Blocks’ in which you can earn BORA Swell if you perform adequately. By clicking on the game, you also get to see the BORA Explorer and the high score list for Tower Blocks.

The developer page of BORA Lagoon has some extra information tabs in the upper bar. It allows you to click on: introduction (into BORA), documents, BORA test ground (the main testnet page), explorer (the place to see all the BORA testnet transactions) and a tab for news and support. If you have any comments after visiting the testnet pages, you can enter your information and comments into this form, which will be sent over to the BORA team.

Concluding remarks
BORA Lagoon has some very nice features. You can easily use BORA Lagoon it to transfer BORA tokens to other users. The internal transfer system converts tokens very fast.
Through the use of the Proof of Authority (PoA) consensus algorithm, BORA can scale up to 2,200 transactions per second (TPS) making it highly suitable for commercial size applications. I am looking forward to updates from the team and I will be posting new articles on the project as more information surfaces. I hope the team succeeds in creating a platform that connects blockchain content providers.
