The growth of the Internet and the emergence of the various job portals intended to put in touch the specialists seeking employment and companies looking for qualified personnel, as well as high availability of information, supposedly should've made hiring process easier at the same time ensuring that the best candidates get the best job positions they deserve. Meanwhile, this is not what happens in reality. The wide selection of candidates doesn't make the job of the recruiters easier, when they are trying to evaluate the potential hires and figure out how much in their CVs reflects their actual skills. A set of skills a candidate puts on his/her CV doesn't really give a clear picture of how good this potential employee will be at managing real tasks. Plus it says nothing about the candidate personally; her work ethics, an ability to work under stress, an ability to handle complex projects or meet the deadlines. Like everybody mentions those qualities in their CVs as well, but in most cases, it's just wishful thinking.

A much more valuable indicator of candidate's professionalism is her real performance at the previous jobs, but here the employers and recruiting agencies face the difficulty of acquiring this information. Potential employees are not willing to provide references without being guaranteed that they get the position, which is understandable considering the risks associated with leaking of such private information to the web. Often recruiting agencies abuse the collection of private data to benefit their own businesses. Nonetheless, among the ocean of shady candidates with dubious CVs, the time-honored practice of using references to make hiring decisions is making a comeback.

R_Block is a blockchain startup that offers a solution to this problem of acquiring reliable references during a hiring process in the form of SaaS platform intended to bring together recruiters, job applicants, and Referees (persons capable of providing reliable references considering the candidates' actual skills and past performances) within a digital ecosystem guaranteeing a reliable and secure exchange of information for all parties involved. A company entering the platform in search for employees can get access to the Referees for the potential candidate and can request more detailed information. The information sent by the candidate or Referee to the employer is encrypted by employer's public key, so nobody else can access this information. Thus, while maintaining the security of personal data, the platform gives the employer an opportunity to collect necessary and relevant knowledge regarding the candidate's work history and past performance. Compared to the traditional job boards where the recruiters have to rely solely on CVs to assess the candidates, this approach seems to be much more efficient, giving the project a potential to become a more advanced and sophisticated alternative to the existing online recruiting solutions.

Not a very appealing concept, it looks to me as if the employee is being completely exposed to the goodwill of the former employer without the chance of selecting which reference to present and which one not! It's 1984 on the blockchain, Great! Will not invest my money in that!
