"Blockchain is Good, Bitcoin is Bad" Mentality Triggers Me

Hello Steemians,

Does this bother anyone else? When you watch CNBC or Bloomberg, read WSJ or the Economist, or engage in nearly any traditional financial media, many "experts" talk about how they love blockchain, but don't like that Bitcoin thing. Their argument is usually based on the fact that Bitcoin is speculative (which you can certainly argue), but this is no basis upon which to dismiss the greatest implementation of blockchain technology. Furthermore, many of them are talking about private, rather than public, blockchains when they talk about "blockchain."

While private blockchains are an important innovation, they really are just upgraded distributed databases in terms of security and even then they have tradeoffs (e.g: time to validate every single transaction can slowdown network speeds as opposed to traditional distributed database as well as the complexity of implementing permissioned blockchains). The real revolution is in public blockchains, and that's what this video aims to dive into.

Current speculative nature of bitcoin could come from the amount of investors, which is very high in comlarison to bit coin users.
