I was eagerly waiting for the first day of the conference and Im happy to say I'm not disappointed at all. It was a great afternoon, packed with interaction, keynotes and networking.
I also eagerly waited to meet @ned, but I find out he had to cancel last minute. This cancellation had a good side, though, as I got to meet @furion, who came in @ned's place. I hit quite a few topics with @furion, mostly about @busy, @xeroc's pysteem and all things Steemit.
I also met @hipster form Golos, and learned they have an interesting program to support open source contributions to their blockchain, so I would suggest to get in touch with him if you know how to code, know Steemit/Golos and have some open source contribution in mind.
But the most important encounter was with the legend John Mcaffee. He held the introductory note of the event, one filled with warnings about how fragile the security we take so much for granted is. I also got the chance to take a picture with the guy, who is exactly as you would imagine he is: laid back, candid and extremely witty.
After a few keynotes we had a round tables session of networking in which I asked a ton of questions to the Tendermint / Cosmos guys, Brian and Jae. It was a bright conversation and I think my choice for the underlying platform of Hubcoin is already made. Will still keep an eye on FABRIC, Steemit's upcoming side-chain technology, but Tendermint definitely has the lead now. It's not that I don't like Steemit, but it seems Tendermint just solves a different problem, the kind that I'm looking to solve too.
Tomorrow there will be a day filled entirely with presentations, mine will be in the afternoon. The whole thing is expected to end with a party so maybe my report for tomorrow will come a bit late.
All in all, a very promising start for the d10e conference.
