If I had to credit one thing with pushing me to join this community, it is Steve Brown's book, "The Innovation Ultimatum." He talks about several specific technologies, such as 5G, augmented reality, and of course blockchain.
I've had tons of friends try and sell me on things like Bitcoin and the like over the years, and I passed it off as premature and perhaps fleeting. Well, I don't think that anymore.
In light of everything that is happening with big tech censorship, and given the fact that I have never had a greater desire to create content, Steemit now seems like a no brainer.
What I like about this community is the optimism. People share futuristic ideas and they talk about problems like they are solvable. Of all the things I've been into, and all the ideologies that I've dabbled in over the years, optimism has never left me. Even when the days are darkest, as they surely are these days, I refuse to believe that great things are no longer possible.
Indeed, the obvious solution to censorship is a decentralized platform like this one. At least, that's how I'm choosing to look at it. Youtube and Facebook are definitely where a creator can find an audience, but more and more each day, even their content creators are feeling the squeeze. Why build a library of work on a platform that could be going the way of MySpace very soon?
So that's why I'm here.
I want to create content that can inspire people, and help them solve problems. The things that I want to talk about include leadership, communication, film, science, writing, photography, (some) politics, and many others. Mostly, I want to highlight the good in the world, and show people that a better world starts with a change in mindset. I would like to show people that there really is light at the end of the tunnel.
Oh, and horror movies. ;)
Cheers!
