With the recent crackdown of Twitch streamers in Germany with them being required to register for a national broadcast license, I can see a place for a service associated with/similar to steemit to enter the streaming realm. This way people could donate and subscribe to creators and the streamers can do their job without having to worry about government interference and the like.

Is Germany already resorting to such blatantly draconian Laws? Well now I REALLy hope the EU dissolves. This is just a new form of Tyranny. Seems Germany is destined to be led by dictators!

basically they are making streamers register for a federal broadcasting license. You have to do so in basically all countries for TV and radio to prevent pirate broadcasts or unintentional overlap. Its fucking stupid here since on the Internet, signal overlap is an impossibility. Germany is justifying it by saying they don't want TV or radio broadcasts going to a streaming platform to skirt paying a fee, but thats crazy to me since they are getting so involved in the market in an unhealthy way. If companies want to go online only, that should be their prerogative. Additionally they licensing fee is 1k -1500 euros at the sole discretion of the agency and licenses are technically on a 'may issue' basis, meaning that theoretically anyone can be denied a broadcasting license for any reason. Pretty scary to me man

Alot of insight in your comment here! This simple comment about germany and twitch, opens eyes of people from other nations and make them more aware of events even their country and make meaning of events that would have normally meant nothing.

To me it only seems like censoring. Many people with something to say should have the right to say it. What makes the internet such a phenomenal tool is the ability for opinions to be shared freely. This uses corporatism, which in itself is despicable, as an excuse to censor any opinions that do not follow mainstream political agendas. In SOuth-Africa they are attempting something similar and it is in an attempt to keep a monopoly on opinion. We only have one public broadcaster that controls everything in this country and it is using its power to push political agendas.
