Token2049 in Hong Kong
We are now just about 1 month away from the launch of our token sale! With an active Alpha prototype in hand and a series of successful live event series, we took the next big step and embarked on a two-and-a-half week roadshow across Asia.
The roadshow took us to major East Asian hubs in an effort to introduce Eventum to a wider, more diverse audience while generating awareness in the lead up to the token sale. We were privileged to speak at demo days, attend major conferences, host media sessions, and meet with a vibrant community of partners, investors, and early adopters. Without further ado, here are the major highlights from the Asia Roadshow:
I. Conferences & Meetups
Hong Kong:
The first leg of our trip took us to Hong Kong where we attended the largest digital asset conference in Asia, Token 2049. The conference showcased the brightest minds in cryptocurrency, many of whom expressed interest and support in Eventum.

We held notable discussions with Martin Köppelmann of Gnosis, a market-predicting blockchain project, and with founders of other successful ICO’s such as Hive, OriginTrail and SportyCo. After the conference, we had the pleasure of presenting Eventum at two spin-off events: ICOAfterHour and EuroBlockShow. Each event drew huge crowds and engaging conversations with new fans, investors, and partners.

Singapore:
Following our stop in Hong Kong, we took a short flight to Singapore for more blockchain-themed meetups and investor meetings. One of the highlights in Singapore was the intimate knowledge sharing session with the founders of Kleros, a blockchain project working on dispute resolution.Eventum meetup in Singapore — From information to verification age in blockchain (by Eventum)
Seoul:
The third stop on our roadshow took us to Seoul, South Korea where we again held meetings with our community of users, tech investors and blockchain experts. On March 31st we hosted our own meetup, where we engaged the audience with our Alpha version of Eventum network and walked them through the tangible use cases and benefits of our platform.

Tokyo:
The last leg of our roadshow was Tokyo, Japan where we held another meetup to introduce Eventum to our Japanese fans and potential investors. The biggest highlight of Tokyo was the BeyondBlocks Summit, a phenomenal blockchain conference that brought together entrepreneurs and regulators from around the world. We made meaningful contacts with other founders working on groundbreaking projects such as Datum, RedPulse and Quantstamp.

II. Investment
We had the privilege of meeting several different types of investors on our roadshow: (I) natural buyers who were genuinely interested in using our product (i.e. being on a developer or consumer side of the Eventum data feeds), (II) Bitcoin and Ethereum investors that see Eventum as an opportunity to hedge against bearish market trends, and (III) private and institutional long-term investors that were impressed by our potential, product traction, and speed to market. The result of these conversations was over $1M in private placements from qualified investors in the pipeline and a tremendous amount of learning and insight on the fundraising process.
III. Community
After months of building our community through channels like Twitter, Telegram, and Reddit, we were honored to meet hundreds of supporters and community members in-person throughout our Asia roadshow. Nothing beats real facetime conversation with our core community of investors that support our team, our concept, and soon, our fully functional platform and network! While we met with all types of stakeholders, it was the conversations with our natural buyers that was the most engaging — individuals who genuinely want to use our product and buy our token for its intended purpose. In additional to that, we had interest from multiple potential partners interested in using the Eventum platform to gather real-time data (e.g. for real feedback in supervised machine learning problems), filter/parse it, and then even re-sell it to other interested third parties.
Overall the feedback and interaction was overwhelmingly positive, and for that we are thankful!

IV. Live Audience Demonstrations
Rather than having our guests register for a demo online, we decided to hold a real-time ‘content moderation’ use case demonstration in front of a live audience. In each city, we helped walk our guests through a simple understanding of our platform’s functionality by having them vote on whether this Elon Musk tweet was a scam:
Content moderation task presented to live audience at the meetup in Tokyo
This manual exercise demonstrated a number of concepts, such as the real-time nature of accurate data collection, the role of developers, the role of reporters and validation nodes, the “wisdom of the crowd” principle, and rewards-based incentives (albeit with candy rather than tokens). Participants whose answers aligned with the consensus of “yes, a scam” received a split of the pool of candy which was redeemable by our team acting as the de-facto smart contract. The visual exercise proved effective, giving our audience a more tangible view into Eventum’s functionality and value proposition.
